I suggest you change your intro to this: Not every Dick and Harry can act, but these Toms sure can.
Thanks, I gave it some thought. I think it works better by not changing the the familiar saying. I also think it says what I mean that not everyone any act, including actors named Tom, Dick and Harry. I am asserting, in contrast these particular Toms are exceptional actors in most poll takers opinions. I also think leaving it as, correctly implies that some of the not listed Toms are good to bad actors, but these listed Toms are exceptional. Although, removing the Tom from the idiom doesn't outright say it, some might read it to imply people named Tom are better actors or that all Toms are great actors. Finally, I think it is a catchier and less confusing title as is.

I like the title. But I agree about Sean Connery, that was kind of odd.
I would agree his removal makes the poll suggestion better and less confusing, even if his actual name is Tom and has an Oscar to validate his acting skills. There are too many Toms to list all the worthy ones any how.
