Some good firsts this year, especially on the "overdue" front.

You may want to mention that Pawel Pawlikowski received an Oscar for Ida; it's somewhat of a technicality that the Academy does not list director as a winner even though he was on stage to accept the award.

Thanks, I missed it because it not listed on his IMDb home page. The notation is fair as it levels the playing field with Spike Lee's 4 Little Girls (1997) Feature Documentary nominations. I would assume 'Best Foreign Language Film of the Year' awards go to the director and producers, but it looks like they hand out a single trophy.

corrected
Pawel Pawlikowski Cold War
Best Director, Cold War
First directing Oscar-nomination
(previously Foreign Language Film Oscar-nominated)

The list should also include legendary writer-director 72-year-old Paul Schrader, receiving his first ever Oscar nomination, for Original screenplay on 'First Reformed'. This is the most exciting as he is one of the most over-looked artists in Oscar history - he wrote Taxi Driver and Raging Bull for heaven's sake!
