I really like John C. Reilly and his roles in films like 'Magnolia,' but overall I'd vote for Michael Stuhlbarg.
I think it is like comparing Apples and Oranges, it is hard to argue one is outright better overall. They both have their virtues, I think it comes down to taste and what you value in an actor.. I can see both sides on this one, but as of late I like Michael Stuhlbarg better too. John C. Reilly seemed to have a good mix of serious roles his first fifteen years, but very few the last fifteen, so much so they are a distant memory.

I do like when actor mix it up with commercial and smaller, indie projects. In all fairness, I did notice these two upcoming John C. Reilly films look like they have some potential based on the other talent involved to be more critically acclaimed fare The Sisters Brothers
(2018)
and Stan and Ollie
(2019). Plus he had supporting roles in indies The Little Hours (2017) and The Lobster (2015).

Why 75 years? Why not include Thomas Mitchell and make the unique distinction in Oscar's history.

I think the issue becomes what qualifies? Also, the list could get expansive and difficult to verify it is complete. I also don't think it would be a fair comparison, as I suspect there a lot more actors who have been in three same year, Oscar-nominated movies but were not credited. I think what qualifies as top of line credits now, used to be the full credits in early films. Michael Stuhlbarg and John C. Reilly threesomes are an easier achievement when every speaking actor is credited today, which wasn't the rule of thumb in older movies. It creates a bit of an issue when the scope is supporting roles. These could be some other possibilities.

Charles Laughton (1935) – Mutiny on the Bounty, Les Miserables, Ruggles of Red Gap

I tried to check other actors who achieved the same feat in the last 75 years and didn't find any... so I'm not surprised those you found are from the 30's, I guess at that time, when 10 movies were nominated for Best Picture (even more in 1934) it was easier to sneak into more than two nominees... when you think about it, even Stuhlbarg had it easier than Reilly who's the only actor nominated for 3 Best Picture nominees out of 5.

I like the current version, arguably facing off the two names that have a chance to win the poll.
I was thinking the same that John C. Reilly accomplishment of being in
60%(3/5) of the Best Picture Oscar nominees was superior to Stuhlbarg's
33% (3/9) or the Colbert-Laughton-Mitchell combinations 30%(3/10).
