Casino Royale (1967) isn't considered canon - it is a parody.

I would agree it is one of three non-Eon productions, the others being Never Say Never Again (1983) and "Casino Royale" (Climax!). I would disagree that it is a parody, since it is the middle of three official 'Casino Royale adaptations. The Casino Royale (2006 film) is a remake, made only after the rights to the 1967 movie were acquired. "Casino Royale (2006) is the twenty-first spy film in the Eon Productions James Bond film series, and is the third screen adaptation of Ian Fleming's 1953 novel of the same name".

A parody is "a literary or musical work in which the style of an author or work is closely imitated for comic effect or in ridicule." Since, this is an official adaptation, it isn't a imitation, but a more satirical version with more liberties taken with the novel's story. I think it is a fair inclusion. I don't claim it is canon, only that it is a James Bond movie.

I also included it because of the star power and that most people don't know of this version or the TV movie version as some of the earliest Bond films. Hence, the link to the Surprising Stars of the 'James Bond' Movies. Regardless, I tweaked the question to increase your comfort level with its accuracy.

Which person are you most surprised to learn had a role in one of the James Bond* movies?
*includes Eon and non-Eon productions

Tomorrow is spelled incorrectly on #16.

John Barry is hardly a surprise - he wrote the music for 11 Bond films, and he arranged and performed the theme starting with the first film - Dr. No.

FYC:
Joanna Lumley (Patsy from Ab Fab) - On Her Majesty’s Secret Service

Thanks, I corrected Tomorrow and added Joanna Lumley. I was even more surprised to learn that the British actress appeared on Roseanne (TV Series) as Patsy Stone in 1996.

I would disagree that John Barry would be hardly a surprise to others. After all, it is not like he is Stan Lee and you expect him in every movie he has a remote connection with. He only has made two cameos in a sixty year career covering over a hundred movies. Plus, he is uncredited in the movie, he is only shown briefly and he doesn't have the face recognition of other front-of-camera types. I was surprised to learn he had a cameo, as well as, those of producer Michael G. Wilson, who has an even stronger Bond connection and has no fewer than sixteen Bond film cameos.

Rowan Atkinson???  That surprised me.  You could also add Judi Dench.  Before JB, I only knew her from Cranford.  :)

Me too, I have since re-watched "Never Say Never Again" and he has a decent size part. Mostly overlooked as he gained most of his worldwide fame later in his career after that movie debuted.

It is a nice bit of trivia and not hard to see it happening as a Vegas gambler cameo given that he was Vegas performer and the role didn't require any preparation or travel. I can see that kind of cameo between two legends of the 60's is akin to a Star Wars cameo today. Too bad it ended up on the cutting room floor and only ended up as a deleted scene on the DVD.
