PS: Wishes for the 2020s

Intro:

Many poll board user remembered the 2010s decade in their polls, but
we're heading to a new decade. We're facing our 20s - it surely will be a
decade of new movies and new movie ideas. From what genre do you want
to see more high quality movies in the 2020s decade? Discuss here.

Rules:

Suggestions should be generic terms. Some genres are so wide that I made subdivisions, because the areas in them are so wide, that single examples can't cover the whole genre. (e.g. the asian genres or animated/anime - they are pretty different in style, too). When you make a suggestion, please give me an example that has a big recognition factor. I think this idea would be a good poll in the week [or 2 weeks] before 1st January 2020)

I take zombies to horror, that's a clear subdivision.
Thriller is mostly of Crime genre. Nearly every movie that has suspense effects
calls itself a thriller on the cover. I think the word "thriller" is a fake word to
manage more buys in the stores. I'll put it to Crime. :)

Yes, but there not many options left. Maybe that's an issue for a further poll suggestion.

What is the difference between Animated and Anime?

Everybody else and the Japanese

From Google........

No matter how you look at it, an anime is a cartoon. The main difference is that an anime is considered a Japanese style of cartoons in the West. Many English-language dictionaries define anime as "a Japanese style of motion-picture animation" or as "a style of animation developed in Japan."

Animes are not cartoons! Duffy Duck movies are cartoons, Tom & Jerry movies are cartoons, Donald Duck movies are cartoons. Animes try to tell a more serious story than the cartoons do. Anime is exclusively Japanese or at least Japanese style. Animated are mostly all more west style made stories like the Disneys or such Movies as 'When the Wind Blows', 'Fritz the Cat', etc. The difference between anime and animated movies is mediocre to big, but clearly defined.

ElMo, how should I smell, what you are tired about?
What is "with a message" in this connection?
The list is a positive option pool - means: what should be more?  ;)

FYC:

Films based on video games.
- You can use Warcraft (2016) or Tomb Raider (2018) to represent it.

Television shows based on video games
- You can use The Witcher (2019– ) to represent it.

I also have a request. Could you please replace #27 with Gangs of Wasseypur (2012) (If you're looking for popularity, then you can use '3 Idiots', it has a lot of votes, but Gangs of Wasseypur is my favorite ^_^)

=====

Corrections:

- Description: Many poll board users remembered the ... to see more high-quality movies in the 2020s decade?

- #4 | Comic adaption > Comic adaptation

- #26 | Corea > Korea

- #33 | Television-series Adaptations (or you could say "Films based on Television shows")

- Suggestion: You should merge #14, #22, and #23. All of them are related to music.

- Also, I'm don't think "puppet" is a genre or a subgenre; it's a theme like LGBT-themed movies, etc.

That's all I have right now. Thank you for reading.

Edit: One more suggestion:
- Since you're talking about high-quality movies, you should use Schindler's List (1993) to represent the Biography genre; it's the highest-rated biographical movie on IMDb.

Bo:
Thank you for helping. I did the edits and will change from 3 idiots to gangs of Wasseypur, but I will keep the three different kinds of music movies, because only 1 genre is to less at that point. I think even three is too less, as I'm also a music freak. But these three is are representing the three kinds of music. And it's just about movies, not tv-series. That might be another poll - you should do. :D

Sorry, I just saw there is not '3 Idiots' on the list. When I look at Gangs of Wasseypur and Drishyam, Drishyam is way better. I'll keep it.

Yes, puppet is a lone standing genre. It's not just the muppets. Did you see how many movies Aardman did? Or things like 'Team America', Peter Jacksons 'Meet the Feebles'? Yes - it is definitely a own genre.

I've put 'Schindlers List' as biography. You might be right, it's better.
Even though the other movie is very good, too.

More comic-book superhero movies.  25% of the box office isn't enough.  Should be 75% and most of them should be owned by Disney.  And new superheros should always be introduced by reworking the same formula used for earlier superhero movies, mostly Iron Man.

And the rest of the cinemas may be filled with animated remakes of Disney's live-action remakes of their original animated films and rom-coms--those are always the same anyways.

I think Space should be among the wishes.

As a list item, you can take any well-known space film, for example, "Star Wars" (1977),
"2001: A Space Odyssey" (1968), etc.

Hi, Zlogorek. :D
I've put space at option #19, counted to Science Fiction. As list item, I took
'Interstellar'. I think that fits pretty good. Thank you for your interest in the list. :)

Certainly, this is your list.
In my personal opinion, "Interstellar" is not about space at all, it is about corn. :)
(Well, and about love, but mostly about corn).

By the way, then what about a category like Romance?
This is a popular genre, and there is one free place in the list.
"Gone with the Wind" (1939) or any adaptation of "Jane Eyre" as examples.

I merged the classical music into the option of pop, jazz, etc. ...
musical stays as separated option, because it's so special.
