I live in Argentina so my phone language is set to spanish. But when I open Imdb android app I prefer to see the information in english and the original movie titles (most of the times they will be in engjish, but if they were for example in french, i always want to see the original title for the movie). Unfortunatly the app shows me most of the things partially translated to spanish and also the movie titles in spanish too, which I don't like at all. I'm logged with my imdb account in which the settings are to always show the original movie titles. On the web page in fact I see everything the way I want. But the app keeps translating the titles (and some of the information) to spanish even when I'm logged with an account set to show original movie titles. Can that be solved? Thanks in advance.

Hi Christian.

The Android app uses your set system language preferences for titles listings in app, so to see the titles in English, please set your devices's language to English.

The in-app settings (if/when present) only control the language of the labels inside the app.

Best,
Kurt

Thank you Kurt for your answer. There are no in-app settings to control language at all. That's the problem. Please take to the right people/staff the idea of including a setting like that in the app. Because I need to have my device language set to spanish because it's my native language and the only one I understand completely. But that doesn't mean that I prefer to see every site, app, etc. in spanish. The android system is totally and perfectly translated to spanish, so it's absolutely usable. On the other hand, Imdb site is poorly and partially translated to spanish, so in fact, some things appear in spanish and other in english, mixed on the same page. That looks and feel awful for the user. In addition to (the most important) issue of translating movie titles to a language different from the original; that's a crime. I guess the app should be language configurable by the user. Just the way the web page is. I also have my Windows in spanish, but see the Imdb page totally in english and original movie titles (in whatever language they may be). Thanks again.

Hi Christian,

Thanks for your reply and feedback. I've changed this thread into an idea for potential review by our teams specifically referring to a language configuration setting within the application.

Best,
~Kurt

Yes Please do that. It feels like that People suggest that since... Ever! I have the same problem with German, the Titles are awefull, they are often translate an English title to another English title, how silly is that...

The only way I know how you can correct that bug in the IMDb App is to root your phone, install the Xposed Framework, there is a module that can fake any environment variable for any App, in it set the system language only for the IMDb App to english.
