Hi, from another thread came the question why "Appurushido: Ekusu makina" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1043842 does not show the title used in Germany, when viewing from Germany.
It has "World-Wide (English Title): Appleseed: Ex Makina" but that doesn't give German users the title, it defers to the original one.
I specifically added a "Germany" Title which solved the problem for the user (he saw the japanese title with "show country specific title : Germany" in the IMDB options, which got confusing).

I kinda thought the World-Wide title would override the original title for all users using "country specific" as their title option?

Hi Goettschwan, I know it does not, but that's quite a good idea.
Therefore, there could be the following hierarchy: localized title > WW international title > original title
Except if the user declare that he is from the country where the movie was made, in which case, the original title applies anyway.

Hi Goettschwan,

You can amend your site settings by hovering over your name in the top right hand corner and going to site settings, Update general site preferences to change the Title display country and Title display language if you are unhappy with the default display options for a location.

I hope this helps.

Hi Will, I know that, thank you, I set it to "original title" years ago.

What I wonder is why "World Wide Title" does not show for people that have set their preferences for a specific country that is NOT mentioned in the Also known as.

in this example, the user saw all the titles with the names used in Germany. Since there was no Germany entry, he saw the Japanese original title, but there was a "World Wide Title (english)". I was of the opinion that the visualisation should be the world wide title, since a specific german did not exist?

I wonder what "world wide title" then is for, if not for showing it in cases where a country is not specified in the aka?
This would also apply to "european title" which is an option.

It is an international *English* title, and I wouldn't expect to see it if I had chosen to see *German* titles.

I might expect to see it if I had chosen to see US or UK titles, but I don't think this always works, based on past discussions. I think it does work if you are located in an English-speaking country.
