Am I right in saying, the only way to get here is the tiny, blue 'Contact Us' link at the bottom of an IMDb page? It took me ages to remember how I got here...!!
Or is there a more obvious link?
Thx in advance
David

There are other routes.

I believe the contact page has links onwards to hear (I'm currently getting a warning about too many pending contacts, so can't get the original page):

http://www.imdb.com/helpdesk/contact

There are also links at the top of the Help and Contributor's Help forums:

http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000041/t...
http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000042/t...

And probably other places too.

Thanks Emperor....but!

Using the home page as a starting point, there is no link to here using the main 4 buttons at the top (Movies, TV & Showtimes / Celebs, Events & Photos / News & Community / Watchlist). The MESSAGE BOARD link in the News & Community drop-down menu is IMDb's own message board, different to this one.

The HELP link (top-right, just above your name) takes you to a page where there is no clear link to here...or should I say I can't see one!

The only link I can still see that takes you here (i.e. 'getsatisfaction.com) is the tiny little link at the bottom - 'Contact Us'. This takes you to a page with a large button marked 'Go to the official IMDb Support Community'. Apart from that, I can't find any other links.

Apologies for being so anal about a tiny little thing, it's just bugging me ever-so-slightly (I'm not losing any sleep over it - well, not much :o) ).

Which actually brings me to a slightly interesting question. Why are there TWO sets of message boards for IMDb anyway? I don't get the point of it....

Anyway, I'm off to bed - so I can not sleep and spend all night worrying about this....!!! ;o) ;o)

I would think that is the most common place users would look for it (at the bottom of every page) as that is where every other website put contact information. The second place i would normally look would be clicking help and typing "contact" which also leads here. I, personally, would never have thought to look in the tabs along the top where all the sections people normally go are linked.

The reason for this board, which replaced the onsite "Help" board is that it has many additional features. The boards system on IMDb is not searchable. This one is. This board has "tags" which will normally show you previous versions of most questions asked o(of course, it seems few users use this feature-the same questions come up daily and no one ever seems to just read the last post about it and end up re-asking the same question-like, "I have two pages, how do I merge them into one?" which is asked a couple times per day). The old Help board was not monitored by staff. You could not do things like "report a problem" there. You'd get an answer by users to report it to the overloaded Help Desk. You could not make suggestions on the old Help board, but would be, again, directed to the Help Desk. If suggestions went to the Help Desk, other users would not see suggestions and vote them up or add comments to suggestions. So here is more efficient for suggestions. Rather than design a new boards system and add these features, they simply used this site which was already set up.

Hi bluesmanSF again - you answered me a couple of days ago regarding all the spam in the LIST page - it's still there but worse!!

Thanks for the answer, that all makes sense! Tho I still think having the link to here being two tiny words at the bottom of the page is not adequate.....any thoughts?

Re: "Still there but worse!!"

Yikes. Well, staff might be thin this weekend. But, they'll catch up to it.

Re: "Thoughts?"

The only other thing I can think of might be a banner for this forum when you click "Help." But, many things people post about are there in the FAQ's (for instance, "I have two pages, how do I merge them," is right there...yet daily people ask how here...so their finding this easier than the FAQ link right there when you click "help") and I think the site prefers they look there first before asking as everything has pretty much been explained in detail there in the Help section. Also, the link to here is at the bottom of all the FAQ pages, in case the page didn't cover it. So, if they're not finding it in the "contact us" or in the "help" section, I don't know what else could be done.

That said, "help" threads are increasingly ending up on the "I Need To Know" message boards, more and more. Maybe more a result of people not wanting to register here than not know this board is here. But, maybe more visibility might help ease up on those off topic threads.
