Random acceptance of corrections

I work for a production company and have been updating the listings of our programmes.  However it is really frustrating, some corrections are accepted, some are not (unable to verify usually). These are exactly the same sort of corrections each time e.g. the name of the director and/or writer is wrong and needs to be changed.  I'm getting nowhere, anybody got any advice please?

Hello Novel Entertainment,
It always helps if you can provide some supporting evidence for any submission.

But after you’ve done a few with supporting evidence that should improve your reputation as a trustworthy submitter of data. Once you reach that level then you can try submitting some without verification and see if they are not only accepted as a submission but are accepted into the system and added to the database.

When they start being accepted into the database then you can submit all of the others you’ve got details for.

The IMDb works mainly by reputation and trust. How much do they trust you and the submissions that you make?

That’s why you should provide as much proof and supporting evidence for your earlier submissions until you’ve built up your reputation as being a trustworthy contributor.

Hi Novel Entertainment -

Adding onto what Steve already mentioned above, for the credits that have not been approved it's likely that our editors were unable to verify the information and will need to see further evidence.  For details on how to provide evidence, please review the following guide: https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/contribution-information/how-can-i-submit-additional-veri...#

Hi, Michelle.

It would be really great to have the explanation for how "editors were unable to verify" a part of "the same sort of corrections".
Thank you very much.

Indeed, it is totally random.  For one episode I can correct the director's name, then for the following the correction is rejected.  Likewise scriptwriters, no rhyme  nor reason it appears to be random acceptance on IMDB's part.  Could I not provide something to prove I work for the production company?!

Hi MAthePA -

Without knowing the specific submission details in this specific case, I can only speculate here regarding the inconsistent approvals and rejections.  There could be a number of reasons for the sometimes approvals and sometimes rejections, if an individual is high-ranked and we cannot easily verify it, we may lean on the side of caution before approving.  If the title was released in the distant past and a new credit is being added, we may also be cautious as opposed to a recent or unreleased title, if the title is highly ranked we also are more careful about the information being added to it, also due to the volume of submissions we handle, occasionally bad vetting decisions can be made.   This is just a short list of common possibilities of rejections, most often it's due to our editors being unable to easily verify.

Thank you, Michelle.

I really did not expect for another answer, in view of the existing practice. If official reps and employees keep ignoring all the similar claims that, again, the rejected thing are totally the same in their nature, what can we, contributors do more? They prefer keep ignoring, we need keep asking... If IMDb needs this additional noise, let this buzz produce more honey ))

Thanks @Michelle, I appreciate your help and replies and have applied for the title scorecard.  I can only reiterate the rejection of my corrections is totally random as it is the SAME series each time, with the SAME sort of corrections (director, script writer, add image etc).  As there are well over 200 episodes of this series the situation is vexing!

Hi there -

I apologize, as I understand how the inconsistency can be frustrating.  Once you have been granted Scorecard access, I'm hopeful that this will help resolve the issue.  Otherwise, if you are still experiencing the inconsistencies further, let us know here.

Thanks Michelle.  I have today submitted some of the corrections again via scorecard, fingers crossed this works as I have wasted so much time on this.

Hi Novel Entertainment -

If you work for the production company, I would encourage you to apply for our Title Scorecard: https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/industry-professional/imdb-title-scorecard/GR6ELNEMQZADBQ...# , especially if you are consistently updating information for the titles that your company produces.  This will provide you with a convenient Dashboard to submit your updates, and your submissions will also alert our editors that you are a member of the production.

Otherwise, as mentioned previously, if you are finding that valid data is being rejected, I would encourage you to provide further evidence (you can post screen grabs or links in this thread publicly, or reach out to our support team privately with your evidence) and our staff can take a further look.
