Actually this is more of a question than a problem but I really want to know what to do.
Mission Mangal, the upcoming Indian film, is a drama but someone added the sci-fi genre. Then, later I found it was gone [honestly, I have nothing to do with this], and now it's back.
I don't think it qualifies for the sci-fi genre.
Because sci-fi means science FICTION. Unless the film is a work of fiction, I don't think we should mention it that way. Although it's true that this film deals with the Mars orbiter mission, i.e, space, which is a common sci-fi trope, but didn't even First Man do that?
First Man also dealt with space but wasn't classified a sci-fi.
I think historical drama should be a better way of classifying Mission Mangal. It doesn't matter how old the event was, at least it did happen and is now a part of the past. It qualifies more for the history genre [if character names are not changed] than sci-fi.
What do you editors think?

Locking the addition of new genres, just like it is done for older films.
You try to add the genre, and it gets rejected within seconds. That's how it is done for older films. It can be done for this one too, as the makers have billed this as an emotional film (drama) only. It's the internet that is calling it a sci-fi although it barely qualifies for the genre due to being based on true events and featuring even true characters. The lead actor Akshay Kumar plays Rakesh Dhawan, a real life character and a part of the real mission.
