Removal of roman numerals and title years from submission system suggestions

Name and Title suggestions within the data submission system has been changed for the worse.

At some point in the past couple of days, I noted a couple of changes that make data submission to the IMDb more difficult.  Roman numerals have been removed from name suggestions, and years have been removed from title suggestions.

Examples:

You want to add a movie connection to the Disney classic Bambi.  You remember that it was released in the 1940's.  Now without the year next to the title, you have no idea which one it is unless you waste time clicking on them to see what page comes up.

Lets say you want to add Danny Smith to a cast list.  You remember him from Kuu Kuu Harajuku, and also recall that he is/was Danny Smith (I).  Now try to pick him out of the list:

These two changes (maybe there are more?) have made it much more difficult to add data to the IMDb.  Please re-consider and find a way to make it easier, not harder.  Thank you.

Hi Ron,

This was an unintended side-effect of improvements to make search results more relevant (as Adrian spotted).

Given this, we've reverted the change and are working on a fix that retains the roman numerals and title years.

Cheers,

Rachel

Hi,

Just to follow up here.  We have re-implemented the search improvements with the roman numerals and title years showing now.

If you have feedback on the search results, please let us know.

Cheers,

Rachel
