I am shocked and dismayed to hear that IMDb is even considering removing editors from the main production credits. I would like to think that this is just a mistake, but nevertheless it makes me concerned. Editors have always played a vital role in the formation of films and story, often spending as much time creating the film as the director him or herself. Editors shape the performances of the cast, the plot of the film, and in many circumstances can single-handedly save a film in distress.

Of course this is not to discount any of the other crew positions present in filmmaking, but I can think of no reason to remove the Editor from the main production credits. If anything IMDb should be adding positions to the main production credits. I would argue any position featured in the head credits belongs in the main production credits section.

As someone who enjoys film, I strongly believe that the writer, director, producer, cinematographer and editor should be in the main credits. I watch films in part based on who edits the film. I will occasionally watch a film with the sound turned off so I can better appreciate the direction, cinematography and editing.

Note to IMDb Admins: I recommend changing the title of this suggestion
from: "Removing Editors from Main Production Credits"
to: "Keep Editors in Main Production Credits"
