There is a film that I know for a fact is only playing in 1 theatre in 1 city for 1 week. It is an independent film that has been garnering dozens of votes over the week--it was averaging 5.8/10, with about 70 votes--which seems par for the course for a film that is independent.

However, just today I saw the IMDb rating and it has spiked to 8.5/10 with an overwhelming population overnight voting 9/10!! I believe the distributors didn't want the film to look bad, so maybe they hired an overseas click-farm to stuff the votes? Please look into this, as it's not a fair representation of the film's overall rating.

The film is "Poor Agnes" (2017)

"Poor Agnes" currently playing in 2 cities and has played at 6 significant festivals globally winning 3 awards. All the IMDb reviews are really positive.

I understand, however, it's stacked. Yesterday, and the day before, and the day before and the day before...AND the day before...the ratings were trickling in. Then all of a sudden, it jumped from 70 some odd votes to almost 250?!

180 new votes if it is playing two major cities isn't really a huge stretch. If someone was using a ballot stuffing bot, wouldn't there be thousands of votes? It really doesn't matter as the algorithm for ratings for IMDb takes care of these things.

It seems a little fishy when this whole week, votes were trickling in, day by day--3, 8, 11, 7 new votes, then all of a sudden, at the end of the theatrical release, when the average was 5.8/10, a huge sum of over 100 votes comes in all at once, AND THEY ARE ALL 9s! I could maybe buy your theory if the votes varied, but they are ALL 9s, which makes me think "click-farm".
