Pretty much what it says on the tin and I think I've touched on this previously (although with the new design I can't find it) but rather than relying on people indirectly reporting posts you could now offer a report option on their profile, perhaps with pre-coded options like:
  • Avatar - some people have obscene or objectionable avatars.
  • Spam - adding spam links into their profile and perhaps lists too.
  • Imitation - trolls often change their name and profile to either pretend to be someone else or a member of staff (the latter was recently reported on here).
  • Other - obviously.
Posted for vhavnal who is not enamoured with the new design:

There should be a way to do this. I just received a private message from some New User: mgt-71428 which is obviously a scam account. The problem is I can't report them from any posts because they have made none.

Here's the message by the way:

Good day
My name is Jazeela Ding from Sudan, PLEASE can we know each other for relationship,
contact me on my private email id at ( mrs.jazeelading1@hotmail.com ) i will tell you more about me as i get your respond,
thanks,

It's kind of funny but still these people should be kicked off.

How can I report the user's page?

Obviously if they do add a "Report user" option, it will be abused, even by those being reported (who will report everyone on a certain thread they have a feud on) so the best case option for now is to ONLY allow a Report option for spamming, everyone else can use the ignore feature which will stop you from reading posts by people you considers as 'trolls' ..

Spamming is the biggest issue we have right now and during the swiki attack, there were atleast 20 IMDb Staff working on to clear up the mess so surely IMDb can spare 2 or 3 staff who can work on this..ensuring all reports made are dealt with within an hour (some spammers can make posts to board every 60 seconds)..now they have become smart and avoid 'creating' new spam threads and instead post on another valid thread..Its impossible to get rid of spammers from forums boards, ask anyone who has been running such boards for the last 25+ years ...the best method is to find them fast and block them, finding their IP's won't help either as they are using 1000's of available proxies..the best option may just be to report their hostsite (Spam) to the company hosting them since most times they are not aware that their servers are being used in such a way.

The current spammers servers are based in Netherlands, owned by KnownSRV Ltd, IMDb staff should make a report (legal@knownsrv.com) here

I wish there was a way to report an actor's IMDb page. I know of one that has fake credits because they want to be 'famous.' It's obvious that it's a fake account because for one particular credit they are listed TWICE. One with their REAL profile and one with a profile with FAKE credits. They were banned previously for faking credits so they made a new profile, which has even more movies than the last one. Is there a way to report this?
