Review Declined?

My review was declined saying it conflicted with the policies. Yet going back and reading it I fail to see where I conflicted with anything they put in there. Maybe someone can point out what I said wrong. I didn't think I was bashing anyone when I wrote this more so to say that their performances just fell short.

Not a bad movie by any means but it's clear they don't make them like they used too. The average singing and bland acting from Blunt and Miranda kept this from really being a great movie they both felt incomplete in terms to what they brought to the screen. Songs weren't as catchy as the original although they were written fairly well. But Miranda who they got for Jack's part was just a bland actor I mean don't get me wrong he got the voice part pretty good for a ode to Van Dyke but in terms of bringing life to Jack he just really fell short and didn't make the character his own. Can't blame him I suppose since Hollywood doesn't revolve around musicals anymore but watch Van Dyke in the original and what he does and it is just so much better. This guy kept having to force his smiles and looked like he was always concentrating on his dancing, frowning all the time as oppose to Van Dyke who just looks like he lives the role everyday. Emily Blunt did a superior job in the acting department but its clear she's no Julie Andrews when she starts singing and that's a testament to how great Julie was in her prime.

Still though it was a solid movie and kudos to Marshall for trying to make this a perfect musical and still do the original justice the movie was terrifically choreographed and clever with scenes paying tribute to the original.Blunt is great but she's no Julie Andrews.

I have no idea if this could be the reason, but I noticed a number of spelling/grammar errors. You're not using proper punctuation, for example, omitting commas where they should be.

Also, did you submit it as shown here, i.e., one giant paragraph? That may be an issue.

Its content is not in any way offensive--at least not to me!

I noticed exactly the same thing along with poor formatting. IE: Your one giant paragraph reference GFSCal.

Do an edit and resubmit.
It should go through.

Well, I really haven't been here long enough to know about why it was rejected, but I just want to say that you're right in your assessment of the film!

Poor grammar notwithstanding, that review doesn't seem any worse than the vast majority of "reviews" posted recently that I've read on IMDb.  At least, it makes an argument about the movie and offers some supporting evidence.  It's bewildering how this is rejected while all the trash posts that aren't even reviews at all are accepted.

Am probably late to the party and have not an awful lot to add, but if not done already resubmit the review taking on board what everyone else has said. I also think that formatting may be the problem and that the processing team may have found it very difficult to read and a bit rambling. Having said that, you see walls of text reviews and grammatical errors every day in reviews today and a lot of them far worse than this too. This can easily be resolved with punctuation to break up the sentencing (so the big paragraph does not instead read like one big sentence instead), check the grammar and breaking up the big paragraph into two shorter ones.

Speaking as a prolific reviewer who has become increasingly despairing of IMDb review quality lately, in terms of content there is nothing wrong with the review at all. You give well argued reasons, good and bad, it actually looks and feels like a review and it is always great when you see somebody being civil in how they put their opinion across. You didn't bash anybody at all, which in an era of where critic and general consensus bashing has increased irritatingly was really refreshing. If you have already submitted the review in question, when and if you next write a review take the replies to your post on board.

Just to say, I know what it is like to have a review declined and remember how frustrating it is. It has only happened for one review, but it happened because I apparently put in a word deemed by some offensive (on post-review research I did find that it was debatable) without realising that it was. I did feel bad because I would never say anything offensive intentionally. I took the word out, re-submitted the review and it approved straight away. Sorry for the long post.

Hi Hannebal -

As others suggested here, please make any grammatical corrections to your review and re-submit it.  Once submitted, please post the related submission reference number here and I can ensure that it is approved.

I hope I spruced it up enough to be approved. That first night I wrote it was Christmas and I was very tired. But thank you Michelle for taking the time to reply and review my question.

I had a review declined recently, the first in over a year, and from reading this thread realized that perhaps errors in spelling and punctuation and spacing had more to do with it, thanks to voice recognition through my android which is often way off. On a small device, it's difficult to edit it. I resubmitted it with proper grammar and punctuation (I am a stickler for that in general!) and changed a few structural details as well, and am hoping it does immediately get approved. Like others here, I've contributed well over 5000 reviews and I'd hate to see old reviews get deleted, because unlike the old site, you don't get to see if any were removed for reasons years later that are because of changed policies.

i think it was removed because of you're personal opinion on it .or factual inaccuracies, this is happening to me too.you can say this happening in real world or poltics..i mean imdb is getting too strict back in the old days it was good..i might no post reviews after all, where is the freedom.
