Reviews not being authorised

Usually my movie/TV reviews are approved in about 1-2 hours.  Right now I am waiting on three reviews to be approved, one posted about 11 hours ago, one from about 4 hours ago and one from 1 1/2 hours ago.  Is there an issue with approving reviews at the moment?

I'm having the same problem, and am glad you've brought this up. I have two reviews that have yet to be approved, one written yesterday but re-submitted today because I thought it would make a difference and the other a couple of hours ago. Like you, my reviews are approved within an hour and a half of being submitted. My guess is that there is a temporary backlog due to a technical problem, this situation has happened a few times and that's nearly always been the problem, that should sort itself out very soon. Just in case, copy and paste your reviews into Word, which will save you from forgetting what you've written which is really annoying. So glad I'm not alone with this issue, and you have saved me from querying about it.

Thanks Bethany.  In the past, once the issue has been resolved, do the reviews then go through or is it necessary to resubmit the reviews?  Your comment re copying the reviews into Word made me think I may have to resubmit them.

Usually they do go through automatically. No I don't think it will be necessary to resubmit them, if it turns out that you do it's just in case they somehow get deleted if a different problem entirely. As somebody who isn't a staff member I may be incorrect, so it's best to wait until somebody involved with running the site investigates and lets us know what the issue is and what to do.

Usually when a review is submitted or will say don't add spoilers or copy the plot of the movie and show. It must be ten pharagraphs long. If this happens and its submitted it may be ignored and all future submissions. Yes wait to see what happens, but did you follow guidelines?

Friday reviews have been approved, at least for me. More will probably follow later.

For me the same. There seems to be a problem with the automatism. Usually my reviews get confirmed within 2 hours, and now I have 3 open from over 24 hours ago. Tomorrow's Sunday, so it may take another day or two until it's back to normal.

I think the issue extends to the plot summary page as well.  Have written plot summaries for four movies in the last day and none have shown up.  I realise not every one will show up, but the pages I was writing on hardly had any summaries to start with and were ones I was confident my summary would show up on.

Plot summaries are very different than user reviews.  Please see http://www.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?addsprocessingtimes and specifically http://www.imdb.com/czone/times  (the oldest waiting plot summaries are from Thursday)

Thanks Col.  Any word on what the issue is with the reviews not going through and when it will be fixed?

Yep, I've spoken to another fellow IMDb user and we are both in the same boat with regards to this. The review system seems to have fallen over. I hit like on a few of my fellow users reviews and those did not even register either.

There was a technical problem with the system that processes reviews. That has now been fixed and it is working through the backlog of reviews that were submitted while it was broken. It should catch up over the next few hours.

Thanks Owen.  A review I submitted on Saturday morning (Sydney, Australia time) was just approved, so it looks like the pipeline is starting to function again.
