lately, my reviews seem to be pending for an inordinately long amount of time. Usually they show up instantly especially if it is a current episode of a current show. I wanted to make small edits to a review I posted last night, but it was in pending limbo, so I uploaded a new review containing the corrections, but both reviews are still pending. Normally, I can go in and delete the original review once it shows. But neither of them are showing at all, which is highly unusual for a show that has just televised it's most recent episode. Star Trek Discovery, Episode "The Red Angel", user name weAponX. I want to delete the first review and keep the 2nd. Can anyone tell me what is going on? It's not just my review, the other reviews have been trickling in very slowly, when usually, by the time an hour past broadcast there are usually at least 10 reviews showing. There are only six showing as of this morning.

There is also one more thing I want to add to this request, because sometimes our reviews happen to mysteriously disintegrate overnight and sometimes we don’t even see which ones were deleted. I mean, they are deleted outright with no notification whatsoever. Previously under the old reviews section, if a review was found unacceptable, we would get a notification of such, and we could edit it and put it back up.
Because I hate my reviews vanishing, especially if there is no notification that they are being deleted or even which ones were deleted. In fact it was just the sheer luck that I discovered maybe five reviews that were deleted and I had the original contributor email which had my review and I was able to put them back up, I’m not really understanding why they were deleted in the first place other than somebody complained about them and the only option for the complaint is “delete”, rather than a text box where we can enter our explanation of why we think the review is inappropriate. Like we used to have. And even back then, if if reviews were deemed inappropriate and therefore deleted, we were shown which ones were deleted and we could edit them because somebody would have had the decency to explain why they thought it was inappropriate and therefore we would be able to correct it and re-upload it.
But this new review system, where anybody can complain about my review for “Star Trek Discovery” (The one that says, “This is Star Trek, deal with it“) and have it deleted 10 times in a row, when there was absolutely nothing in that review to merit deletion, and I wasn’t even notified that it had been deleted, I think that’s the most unfriendly thing on this entire website. It just tells you how many reviews are in queue since a particular date, it’s not really that helpful in giving you any information about when exactly your review or other contribution will be published. It doesn’t say anything about the status of our review contributions, and, the review status is all the way on the very bottom . The only indication we get is from the “status” link which is sent to us in the contributor zone email receipt which is sent to us right after we write a review. It’s odd that our reviews are given a contributor ID number, but they cannot be searched from the contributor zone. It is as if our reviews are handled through the contributor zone, but only through section 31’s secret area (in the context of the show I was reviewing )

I think what I’m asking here is that if there’s some issue with our reviews that makes the editors want to hold up on them for a while, we deserve some kind of email indication that there will be some extra time. Which is why lately I have been saving every review I make into my iPhone notes as well as links to the confirmation emails so I can put them back up. Sometimes, they won’t authorize the new version unless there are at least a couple of things changed in there. I think they have something that detects verbatim duplicates of reviews and it just simply rejects both of them.

No such system existed and IMDbPro offers no such service (in fact IMDbPro does not even support the display nor contribution of user reviews).

Hm, :( I know for a fact it existed. It was well-hidden in the Site. It was not listed under the "Help and Support" section, it was a link that was available if you used a microscope from within your Account settings. I used it several times, I may even have email stored in my email account containing replies to it. This feature stopped existing when the site started being reconstructed, back when we were both involved in the discussions about returning functionality to to Reviews section. for a wile, we didn't even have the ability to search through them (we still don't in fact, although now we can list them). It was a kind of "Trouble Ticket" system, I was given a ref number by the persons/employees that helped me. But it indeed existed. The Pro system SHOULD have such a system. It may have been taken down when the Discussions were taken down. I'm going to see if I have anything left in my Inbox from using this function, I'll be back in a while.

Thank you, Col. i’ll check out the new experimental system. Yeah, I don’t like posting a review again but I only do it if it is a significant edit, sometimes it goes through, sometimes it doesn’t. In fact my first two reviews for that same title didn’t go through at all even though they said they were approved, they never showed up on the site. But the third one with my final edits did, within about 15 minutes of my sending it,

Maybe you can put your two cents into my other recent thread about the IMDb troll attacks, which was titled “what if we ditched the down vote button”- it is my learned opinion, that if you remove a feature that trolls and botnets use to abuse any system be it Reddit or IMDb, then said trolls vanish. But perhaps if there were some system of automation like a Captcha or a even the old automatic spellchecker, which would not allow you to proceed until you corrected every last spelling mistake, that may have the same affect. Because botnets have trouble with things like that, they cannot automatically spam “Captain Marvel“ with 150 negative reviews at once using preprogrammed IMDb troll accounts, if the review system automatically stops the procession of their review for spellchecking . They would simply quit. It may be easier to just remove the down vote button, which they use to attack every single positive review of many of the movies and television shows I have been following recently. But a lot of people do not like that idea, I myself think it is a drastic measure but I’m just trying to find an end to these trolls, the same trolls that are attacking rotten tomatoes, trolls which appear to have some kind of political agenda, which has no business being on Internet movie database at all

Oh I really like that experimental contribution history, it shows me the status of everything, including my complaints about reviews that I thought were totally inappropriate. I don’t like that the complaint system goes through the contribution system, I really don’t want those reviews deleted, but I would rather leave a message as to why I think they are inappropriate reviews- under the old system if we found issue with somebody else’s review we could state why we thought it was inappropriate, and I used that feature. But now we only have a few choices as to why they are inappropriate, duplicate, inappropriate, I forget what the last one is, irrelevant. And when you press “other“ there is no place for you to enter what your “other“ is. This is why we need the deleted reviews back. Well that’s pretty good, now we need a system to show who complained about our entries and if they were deleted or not.
How does one link this to a new or other existing thread? I am so ignorant here.

But both for Schumer, and after looking at Captain Marvel's 1-star reviews (a page of each, sorted by most- and least-helpful), I'm not convinced that this is a targeted strategy by a limited number of people. I think, at least in Schumer's case, there are just a lot of people who hate her as much as I enjoyed it. I ask, if this is not possibly the case with Captain Marvel also? Particularly since there are a lot of IMDb users ready to rant -- at sufficient length that we know they're not bots -- about any film that they perceive has a feminist or liberal worldview?

The overall rating is still 7+, so it seems the naysayers are losing. I haven't seen it, so I don't have an opinion on its quality.
I don't intend this as a rejection of your concerns, but other than a "vast rightwing conspiracy" that slowly infiltrated IMDb over the last 5 years with fake accounts, I don't understand how the data reflects a bot-war or other concerted action.

Funny, I see a a "vast leftwing conspiracy" that has slowly infiltrated IMDb!
(smiling) I wrote that last paragraph poorly, my meaning was that I don't see a VRC as necessary to explain the data when uncoordinated action by many people of a similar mindset would just as easily produce the same result.
It happens with upvotes as well as down votes, it’s a problem with abuse of the system including up votes, down votes and short Spammy reviews . A solution to this that would probably put a stop to it rather quickly would be if they reenacted the automatic spellchecker. Because the fake accounts definitely had trouble with that one, when presented with a screen where they have to actually physically interact with it and correct all of their misspellings (and the Spammy reviewers always have lousy spelling and grammar), whatever software they are using to make hundreds of those simply gives up. I think that would be an even better solution than removing the tools that they abuse, not just the town vote, as you say, but the up vote as well. Basically show the reviews in a random manner that doesn’t favor anybody.
Ed Jones, and that’s the problem, there should be no political posturing in the reviews section, be they spam-reviews by RWNJs, or anyone else. Unless the title specifically deals with it. But most people don’t go to the movies to see/hear Rush Limbergerbaugh spouting his poodoo, They go to the movies to get AWAY from having to hear him spouting crap. If they decide to go to one of those nut job movies, Clinton cash etc., it’s their own fault. Most films/TV shows are apolitical, and the attacks on said films are attacks on either the actors that acted in them or the director that directed it. Or some other irrelevancy, it has nothing to do with the title.
Nick, are you sure you are commenting on the right thread? I had made another thread about considering removing a feature that is abused, The downvote button. Turns this place into a shit house like reddit, and even that place has been removing access to that button, in the most popular subs. I was posting here, about reviews that are hung up in the system for ages and ages. The longest I ever had a review hung up was about a month and a half for an episode of “almost human“.

This is actually my second get satisfaction account the original one has the same username but a different Profile image. I used that one during the time the reviews section was being rebuilt. I somehow created this account, which is a secondary account but apparently it links directly to my IMDb account, which I prefer.
I just want to add, that these links are just what I needed. These are great resources, thanks SO MUCH for making me aware of them!
