Roman numeral suffixes in names

Today I was trying to enter a new actor into the system. The actor is Jerry Lee Lewis III. IMDb keeps correcting it to Lewis Iii, Jerry Lee. Is there any way to force IMDb to keep the all caps for the III suffix? Or will I just have to correct this once the page is made. I had a similar problem earlier correcting credits where it though Iv was the last name when it was obviously the fourth suffix.

I suspect that there is a bug which flips the suffix letters in an odd way.

You could submit the name with the error and contact the Help Desk for assistance to correct the mistake via this form.

I was able to fix the name now that the edit page has gone live for the new name, as I expected would be the case.

But why is this marked as "Answered" because it hasn't been answered or even acknowledged that there is a bug. It shouldn't take a two step process to add people with roman numeral suffixes to get it correct.

I ran into the same problem yesterday, and found no help in the docs, and no way to get around the auto-correction.

Help doc mentions a "III" suffix, but doesn't tell you how to correctly submit it.

As you can see, I submitted the correct capitalization via the "as" attrbute.

Can someone tell me how to correct this?  Thanks.

There is a known display bug when submitting a name with a Roman numeral suffix higher than 2 (II). Please contact the support staff via this form for assistance. Make sure you are logged into IMDb account to view the form.

Not a display bug, because the data is stored incorrectly in the database.  I contacted the HelpDesk after the first one, and dropped the nconst here for the 2nd one to keep track of it. My helpdesk message contains a link to this thread.

Hi All -

I'm just following up here to confirm that the roman numeral capitalization issue is a known bug that has been reported to our technical staff who are still reviewing the issue.  As soon as I have a status I will post an update on this thread, in the meantime, I have manually corrected the capitalization for the names reported (nm9644828 and nm9759690).

I am also trying to correct a roman numeral capitalization issue. I am the administrator for the movie Closer (pro.imdb.com/title/tt10269492) and trying to make Vincent Insalaco (pro.imdb.com/name/nm10665756) credited as Vincent Insalaco III (all caps) but it wants to auto correct to lower case. Can you correct it?

Buddy, you probably want to start a new topic to get attention to your problem. An employee can change the suffix to the correct capitalization.
