In December of 2017, I reported on the following warning page that it's been over 8 years since "Dr." Larry E. Johnson supposedly began to "produce" this film and the fraudster is still at it.
The comments on that video are from numerous actors over the years that Johnson has scammed. Please read them.
He offered me a position of Key Grip/Gaffer and demanded I sign a contract containing many clauses that would allow him to rip me off and pay me ZERO of the money that was promised to me. He requested I fill out an i-9 form and give him my sensitive private info. When I expressed concern about the many warnings I found online, I offered to work for him on a day by day basis, no private data changing hands. If I get paid as promised then we move forward! He promptly unfriended me on Facebook and claimed he would "never hire someone who refused to read his autobiography."
Now he's using IMDb to create fake legitimacy for all his phony "film projects."
It's now August of 2018, six years after Elizabeth Velez posted her warning and almost a year since my last comment... and Johnson is still scamming. Now he has phony IMDb pages for all his phony "films" and he actually claimed on IMDb that Tykarindom is currently "filming." But I contacted a cinematographer who is supposedly doing that filming and he wants nothing to do with Johnson.
One of the formerly listed Cinematographers: Erick Probeck is still owed money promised to him for a trailer he filmed over 2 years ago. He has had nothing to do with Johnson since and demanded that his name be removed from the crew list. I advised him how to contact IMDb directly and you removed it for him.
Johnson has victimized HUNDREDS of actors, crew and their families over the last ten+ years; wasting their time with false promises of big money and "starring roles" in phony film projects that never actually existed, and never will. There is no "filming" actually happening, just more and more LIES from a delusional serial scammer who just can't stop "casting" hundreds of gullible actors for "films" that will never be made.
I did some research and confirmed that he was in fact arrested for writing a fake check to pay a hotel for a "cast meeting" he was supposed to have there. They banned him from the property and he couldn't attend his own meeting. His "cast" were left holding the bag and had to scrounge up the money to pay for the rooms Johnson had promised to cover. I also confirmed that he did in fact try to sue those cast members, (even the minors!) because in his delusional mind he believed they were "stealing" his film. Of course the case was thrown out of court. This link details the court's findings: https://www.leagle.com/decision/infdco20130405978
Please delete him and his phony "film" projects. Don't let him use IMDb as a tool for his relentless scamming.
I just spoke to the other cinematographer and he also confirms that no actual filming is in progress.
Johnson is defrauding IMDb, and hundreds of cast/crew as well as crowdfunding investors.
"$1,656 USD total funds raised 154% funded on April 16, 2016
"$520 USD raised by 38 backers, 1% of $50,000 flexible goal"
"All the funds raised here are to be use to initially create Theodora The Great Investor Trailers. A Trailer design to promote the further funding of a 3 hour, 160+ scene, dramatic historical motion picture for the Big Screen!" – Estimated delivery January 2016
The trailers never happened, the film never happened, and funds were not refunded.
If you believe you have identified ineligible titles listed on the site, please request a removal through our Contact Form by following the path: IMDb Fan/Contributor Questions --> Titles --> Delete a title and e-mail our support staff with the information you have gathered, they will then review your requests and take the applicable actions. Cheers!
Thank you Meredith and Michelle. That's a great start. I'm hoping that Johnson's fraudulent projects are deleted entirely, but at least there is no longer a false impression that Tykarindom is actually in production after ten years of relentless, ongoing "casting" by Johnson.
I have not yet heard from Support Staff, how long does it usually take before they respond?
Wouldn't it be in the best interests of presenting FACTUAL data to wait until he actually has a legitimate film released (fat chance) before letting him post his projects to IMDb?
It has been at least ten years, and he has left a painfully apparent path of destruction, and hundreds of former "cast/crew members" to attest to his fraudulence.
Allowing him to post pages about non-existent "films" and lies regarding their status as "filming" etc., only enables him to continue using IMDb as just another tool in his decade-long scam. It's just one more way he attempts to create fake credibility which he quickly uses on social media to attract more victims.
Now "Tykarindom" is once again listed as "Filming" despite no proof that I can find to indicate Johnson has finally, after nearly a decade of "casting," legitimately begun production.
This is not in keeping with a goal of presenting true and factual data for IMDb visitors. This is enabling a scammer to defraud more "investors" and take advantage of more actors and crew.
I have still not heard back from IMDb via email as was promised. Meanwhile yet another listed "production staff" member has confirmed for me:
Thank you. Is this project actually filming yes or no?
IMDb listed Tykarindom staffer wrote:
They assured me that they will contact you to request removal of their name from the page. How many more fraudulently listed film industry people will have to contact you before you put a stop to this scammer's use of your site to create false legitimacy for his phony "films?"
The ticket filed for your report is still active and pending further investigation; the reason you have not yet been contacted by us directly is because the issue hasn't been resolved and is still pending a resolution. Once the issue has been resolved, rest assured that we will reach out to you to confirm the status as Will mentioned above. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience, and as always, if you are aware of incorrect data on the site you are welcome to submit a removal request through our online Update form.
It has been a whole month since I contacted IMDb about this, how long will it take to be "resolved?" This is no longer an investigation, you have multiple, credible industry sources contacting you and reporting this scammer's fraudulence. Each day that passes makes IMDb more complicit in presenting fraudulent, inaccurate and deceiving information. You have been informed that these pages are being used by a known scammer with a ten year track record of perpetrating this fraud on hundreds of victims. The evidence is overwhelming, and is still abundantly available to view online. The vast majority of it is Johnson's own words posted years ago, and now clearly proving his lies and deceptions.
What more does IMDb need to resolve this investigation?
Thanks for your response.
Due to the number of items and issues our data editors tackle on a daily basis, ticket investigation and resolution can take time to complete. Whilst we can't give you an exact time frame on how long this will take - we will get to the problem as soon as possible.
No matter the outcome, you will receive a response from an editor once this has been looked into.
Thank you for your continued patience.
It's obviously clear to you now, after several people have already contacted you directly requesting to be removed, that Johnson has fraudulently listed people without their knowledge or permission. I know of one more who has recently requested that you remove her name. Please expedite her request if you can.
While I appreciate the update from "Filming" to "Pre-Prod" for the status of "Tykarindom," I still maintain that it's misleading and IMDb is enabling a fraudster to create legitimacy for a bogus production.
In order for there to be a legitimate PRE-production, there actually has to be a real, bona-fide production happening. Otherwise every fleeting thought anyone ever had – "I should make a movie about that!" – is suddenly in a legitimate "Pre-Prod" phase.
By now, I am sure your staff has discovered numerous verifications that most (probably all) of Johnson's claims are fraudulent. "Tykarindom" is not in production, it's not "filming," there is no cinematographer legitimately under contract and attached to the project, Johnson didn't actually buy tickets to Australia for his cast/crew and the movie's not really going to be filmed down under, or anywhere for that matter.
Surely you have criteria that a project must meet to qualify as a bona-fide production? I just can't believe that you have been unable to determine this project's true status in well over a month.
This guy is perpetrating a shoddy scam, and anyone who contributes time, money, products or services to this huckster is just going to join the hundreds of other victims he's already harmed over the years.
Please stop enabling him.
Instead, his latest fraudulent claim is that he will release these films in 2019-2020:
Coming in 2019 - 2020
Theodora The Great, Historical Drama (2019)
Tomb, Historical-Thriller (2019)
Toll House Horrors, Spiritual-Horror (2019)
Imperium, Period Drama, set in 1898 - 1900 China. (2019)
Der Anschluss. Set in 1936 - 1945 Germany and Austria. (2020)
Impeach & Be Damned, set in 1865 - 1877 USA. (2020)
Snow, Christmas Fantasy-Adventure, (2020)
Tykarindom has simply been erased, and now his scam is focusing on the new supposed "flagship film," Theodora the Great.
It's just another in a growing line of phony "films" that will never actually be produced. The longer IMDb allows this farce to remain in your database, the more unreliable your service appears to be. You're presenting fraudulent info about non-existent films to your readers and paying members.
