Hi everyone! I'm hoping someone can help me...
I'm interested to find out about a feature-length horror movie I watched in about 1992-93. It is almost certainly British made (possibly for TV only), and probably during the late 70's or more likely 80's.
The rough plot centres around a group of men (one in particular) who visit a country house during the summer for a getaway (set in around the 1930s). Our main protagonist is given a room to sleep in the house, but he can't rest for the presence of a strange doll in the corner, which appears to look at him. Other freaky things happen - when he goes to the bathroom, all the pipes rattle and amidst the noise it sounds like voices can be heard from the other side of the wall. Also while sitting having tea in the garden, he's convinced someone is watching him through the trellis work of an old summerhouse. The man grows uneasy but his comments to his friends seem to be ignored. Eventually he is lying in bed one night and he's convinced the doll moves, and it then proceeds to climb up his bed covers at which point it becomes a real girl - she takes him by the hand and pulls him through the woods, showing him a vision of the past where she was incorrectly sentenced to being locked in an asylum. While she was there the inmates rioted and broke out, killing all the staff. Then the man is returned to his bed, and packs his bags to leave the next morning. Strangely he forgets something and has to return to the house at which point he is killed by the spirits within.
This is what I can remember from my sketchy memories, but I do recall it being quite well done for the time, and had all the good components of a chilling horror. Unfortunately I can't seem to find anything on the internet about this one!!
Anybody help?!!
