Many other other sites require Phone/Text code verification to complete a registration. Should IMDb and Get Satisfaction require this with the phone number only being used for one account only.

Hi Ed,
At this stage I do not know.
I know a lot of people who have 2 ohones. And would have it helped with your account troubles?
Moreover, the Two-factor authentication (2FA) or string authentication, is rather used for operation checks, i.e. on a regular secured basis, rather than for subscription step only.
So I am interested to share the views of other contributors.

Vince it would pretty much put a stop to these individuals that pop up during situations Like the Larry Johnson thing. Sometimes they create an account just to cause havoc on one topic. For all we know Noel and the other 2 or 3 posters may have been one person. Or worse all Noel only. One person with 4 on screen identities. They would now need 4 phone numbers. As far as a subscription step goes, Twitter requires it, as well as Craigslist. It is a good way to eliminate Trolls! Oh, I too have two phones also, but it is still a way to stop persons from getting suspended from Get Sat and popping up the next day all Brand new. And yes you could change your phone number but that costs money. Most providers only allow 1 change a year free.

Ed, do not "Ramos" yourself!! :)
Stick to facts, anticipate good faith, but do not elaborate theories you cannot prove! :)
I believe he is acting in good faith, but is painfully mistaking about the way he conducts his crusade.

Ed Jones (XLIX), please do not forget that any "phone regulations" may be extremely different all over the world.
From the first day of its foundation, the IMDb stays on the point to be "internet", and not "international" MDbase, but in fact having world-wide popularity that increases each year with little steps forward to international aspects.
Moreover, cinematography is not always an entertainment. Sometimes people contribute factual data that may provoke the forces who aim to hide the facts to prevent such activity by ANY means. How the contributor may feel safe after providing the actual phone number? He needs to ride elsewhere for hundred miles out of home to change the actual cell (not phone, but localization accepted by cell-provider), and do this each time for code approval... I know it's real, please do not consider as a phobia.

Craigslist worldwide requires it to stop spam. Spam here is an issue. If you are a good and kind and decent person you would not need to change your phone number for this site. If you did change your number, it's not like it invalidates your membership. It is only for an initial setup. Phobia has nothing to do with anything. This is to put a stop to people that get suspended and are back within minutes with new screen names. If you cause disruption then make it difficult for that type of person to do it.

And Vince my point was he may have been using two screen names at once. My proposal eliminates that possibility.
You won't have to speculate about it, because it can no longer happen.

Vincent, when IMDb was slow to respond to my issues 6 months ago, I started a new account. So there is no speculation here. It is fact. I'm trying to generate a way to verify that someone can't do what I did. I have good intentions and try my best to help all. Noel only wanted one thing which may help a small section of the community. But in all likelihood it was punishment for an injustice done to him directly. He has no desire to help anyone else but himself.
