I don't know why this is such a tough question because I've asked the question and did a bunch of searches here and seen lots of images.

According to info from Michelle and the help page, station logos/watermarks are ok. But Will seems to be more finicky and asked are they the "original station logo". I just want some consistency and it's seems logos are ok except for apparently for a couple of people.

So I get caught with it's ok but then with some if's.

Please take a look at these.

#190703-194536-894002
#190703-193711-610502
#190630-073159-241202

As they just have station logos, can you please just approve them? thx

The H&I are out. Will was referring to original airing logos. Not rerun station logos.
The Maverick example above cannot have any watermark as these were not in use in the era in which 'Maverick' was made. 1950s and 60s. (ABC) American Broadcasting Company.
Station logos are acceptable on first run networks.

See here
Additionally the local station if there is acceptable IE: KCBS L.A. etc.

I'm re-reading the help with info on logos and if I allow that the sentence is not clearly written then I might see that although images posted clearly do not follow that.
I say the sentence is poorly written because if I apply that sentence like the one with black bars (and i post here on GS that I'd have to search for that says black bars applies to all pics whether user or official source), and this would not be allowed:

We do not allow scans or copies with the following:
  • Bars or framing around the outside of the image

But this thing of "original" logo is the only occurrence I can find after searching here on the board. So something new is something odd unless it's liver which I love.

And to clarify "Station"
If it is first run major network station, the local logo with the network is accepted.
Example
KDVR Denver Fox31.
Also original programming on the following:
The Netflix or Amazon Prime logo on an original production.  Hulu. USA Network. TBS. AMC. Sundance. HBO. Showtime. Cinemax originals.
Not Antennae. H&I. Grit. MeTV.
Now while TBS AMC HBO Showtime Cinemax have originals. The watermarks are allowed on original programming but not aired movies that were cinematic releases first.

This may sound complicated but it really is quite simple.

This is informative, but where did you get it? I've looked for the info without success.

What's interesting is I just came across a show that has a bunch of Starz logos that is an 80s tv show and somebody let those in. It caught my attention because of how my dvr handles some stations as well as having my pics rejected.

So the image below shouldn't have been allowed based on your post right?

Not Allowed
And the original airing would have had no network or station logo in that era.

Logical extrapolation from the explanations read over the last 8 months here on Get Satisfaction.

I "Get it". It's not hard to understand if you "get" the basic premise.

LOL. In the short time here the info provided has helped me such that few of my images are rejected (learning about the black bars, watermarks, etc) and how pics are populated through a series and from actors' pages. But having one place to read info like you put is helpful - in fact I wish they would add it to their help page. And I will tell you I've done a ton of searches trying to find your info here on GS but without success.

You've got me beat for years watched by about 6, but my first tv was B&W and I think about 9" if I can remember right. Then there was trying to get the bow-tie and rabbit ears in the right angles so as to get a picture that wouldn't roll. Kids don't know how good they have it. Oh ya, the remote control was my hand, attached to my arm and attached to my body which fortunately had my feet so I could walk back and forth.

Hi MikeTheWhistle,

Just to clarify, the station logo for re-releases is not a policy, I was just curious over the source of the image as I didn't recognize the channel and it looks like a watermark. I've taken a look and these 2:

#190703-172814-806702
#190703-194536-894002

I've now fixed and will go live shortly. However the other 2:

#190703-193711-610502
#190630-073159-241202

were rejected to the image quality. We will show editorial discretion for some older titles, however if the title is more recent or the quality falls under a certain level then the image is likely to be rejected.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,
Will

I won't load up on the other posts and I want to apologize. When I tried to post the ones that had a bunch of rejects the post didn't seem to go up. It didn't show so I posted again. Again didn't show up, and so on. I had no intent to blast it a bunch of times.

And most of all thanks on the clarification of the station logo policy. I was simply going by what had been shared with me which was that the logos weren't ok.

And most of all I apologize. I don't know why the posts didn't show up like they normally do.
