After I asked this question:

https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/supervising-director

I moved all of Mike B. Anderson's credit on the Simpsons to be a director. They had stayed there for the past year but recently someone decided to move them to "Second Unit Director or Assistant Director".

Can an employee reach out to the contributor who made this mistake and tell them the policy and also move all the credits back to director. This was a pain in the ass the first time I did as there are are literally hundreds of credits.

I have a feeling that maybe someone from ”The Simpsons camp” feels that every episode already has a director, and ”supervising director” goes elsewhere. Anderson has actually directed selected episodes:

These ”supervising directors”, ”creative directors”, ”voice directors”, etc can be tricky, since the word ”director” doesn’t always tell the whole story. To me they’re more like ”creative producers” or maybe ”showrunners”. But it’s IMDb’s call, of course.

If you read the link above, IMDb says "supervising director" is a director position. No one should go about making mass changes like this without discussing it here (my opinion).

Hi Adrian -

We are currently categorizing "Supervising Director" credits in the Director department, as such I have now moved those credits to the correct section and will investigate the recent change.  Cheers!
