Someone Created An IMDb Page For Our Film Without Authorization

Someone created an IMDb page for our film without authorization.  In doing so, they have created a situation in which we have no access to the account.  Additionally, they have opened the door for a great deal of misinformation to be posted on the page, which we're now having trouble getting corrected.  We're attempting to go through the suggested channels to have changes made to the page, but they have yet to materialize.

The film has not officially been released, but we are in the process of submitting for film festivals.  We would absolutely hate for someone to stumble upon this page because of all the inaccuracies.  I am the Production Manager not only for this film, but also for the company releasing the film.  We would like to either terminate this page so that we can start anew or find the quickest means to have changes made.  I've reviewed the Data Processing Times on the IMDb site and they don't appear to follow what we're seeing, or not seeing.  Between myself and another individual hired by our organization we've seen a total of (1) Correction made to our page after submitting multiple requests over the better part of 2 months.

We have signed up for an IMDb Pro account hoping to bolster our status as a "Contributor", but it doesn't appear as though it's made any difference.  I'd like to hear from an EMPLOYEE that can assist us with resolving this matter.

Hi Jaime,

Included here are screen grabs related to the films Musical Composers, The Fairwood Brothers.

As requested previously, please REMOVE any mention of Steve Richard and Tim Mauldin.  These individuals had no involvement with the Film or Music in the film.

Thank you very much for your assistance with making changes to the Director and Writer Credits, as well as the Musical Composer Credit.

These are TIFF files that have to be downloaded to read. They should be jpg.

Those files have a .jpg extension.

You cannot attach .Tiff files in this section.

I attached them just as I have every other reference image to date.

Are you making an observation or attempting to make the requested corrections?

Hi Josh,

Thanks for providing additional evidence, however I'm unable to view the image(s) as it appears as a blank gaps.

Could you please try to re-attach these for us to view?

Thanks for your patience.

Thank you for reaching out Joel.

I'm not sure what's going on with the images.  I have re-framed the screen grabs. Let's try this again.

When viewing, please keep in mind that we're crediting The Fairwood Brothers on the IMDb page as Musical Composers for all ORIGINAL compositions.  Any other music credits shown in these screen grabs are Stock/Royalty Free items that were acquired for use as music beds, fanfare, etc.

Please make the change as soon as you're able to.  I'm trying to make these changes one at a time because they're taking quite a bit of time to get done.  We have other things to add to the page.  Once the credits are in hand I can move on to these other items.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

You say that "we're crediting The Fairwood Brothers on the IMDb page as Musical Composers" . What matters is who has been credited on the film's own credits.

If there is not a 'music by' or 'music compsoed' by credit on the film, there should nt be on eon the IMDb. If they are composers by virtue of writing the songs, the songs need to be added to the soundtrack and perhaps 'Rusty Fairwood' and 'Clark Fairwood' could be the uncredited composers for the film.

No James, “what matters” is that there is NO
Steve Richard or Tim Mauldin associated with this film and they are currently shown as the Musical Composers on this IMDb page. If anyone should received credit in that category it is The Fairwood Brothers.

FYI, I am the Production Manager for this project. I’m working on behalf of the films Producer and know how they would like to see things credited.

I agree that that those two names need to be removed if they are not credited on the film at all. I guess it has been compliacted slightly by the fact that there isn't a music credit for the film in the credits to easily show that the other two were not credited. I expect that it will be accepted that there is no such credits if you have posted all the credits (and it is not likely they are credited all things considered).

The Blues Brothers
Dan Aykroyd & John Belushi
They are credited by their given names.
Since they were on screen.
If they had NOT been on screen and their music only was used they could accredited as The Blues Brothers.
Same applies for Steve and Tim.
Marx Brothers were accredited individually also. Not as the "Marx Brothers".
And their real name Marx was part of the group name.
I have been watching this post for a while. No one has brought this up yet.
Your kinda beating a dead horse here.
No amount of reasoning on your part will change the way things are categorized.
It has been done this way since the forming of the database and in the industry even farther back than that.

Michelle...Joel,

Are you able to please make this change?  Again, I'd like to move on to some other areas of the page that need attention.  If I can get this amended it will be off my list and I can focus elsewhere.

Thank you,

Josh

Hi Josh -

If I understand you are trying to add the additional Soundtrack items as per the screen grabs you provided earlier, is that correct?  If so, can you post the submission reference number for your most recent Soundtrack updates?

Hi Michelle,

Thank you for getting back to me.  Here is what appears to be the correct approach to resolve this matter.

I'd like to remove the existing Musical Composer Credits.  Currently this shows:

  • Tim Mauldin
  • Steve Richard

As evidenced by the credit grabs that I have provided, these individuals are not credited anywhere in the film.  Here is the reference number for removal of this item (those names):

Contribution #180905-152707-777000

After reviewing the guidelines related to Musical Composer credits I don't believe that we have anyone qualified for such a credit.

I have made a second submission in the Music Department category to establish credit for:

  • Rusty Fairwood (Fairwood Brothers)
  • Clark Fairwood (Fairwood Brothers)

Contribution #180905-154232-453000

These are the musicians that composed the film soundtrack.

I will submit another request related specifically to the Soundtrack, which will include the titles credited to The Fairwood Brothers.  You can see those credits yourself by viewing the screen grabs that I submitted at Joel's request.

Hi Josh -

Thanks for the additional details.  The incorrect Composer credits have now been removed and I can see that the Music Department credits you submitted have been approved and are now live on the site.  Cheers!

Michelle - YOU ROCK!!  Thank you once again the assistance with getting our page turned around and moving in the right direction.  Much appreciated!

Adding new details and filling in the blanks should be an easier task.

Best,

Josh
