Someone made a fake IMDb page for me without my consent. How can I delete it?

I am not involved in film whatsoever. I have no idea why there is an IMDb page for me. It refers to a "film" I made, which I finally figured out is from an old instagram video I posted when I was 16, doing gymnastics. It also has my instagram handle on there as well.

For the instagram post, I wrote the caption, "Flexibility at its finest," and whoever made this page for me used that as the title. You can't access the video because my instagram is private, and I worry that this title (taken out of context) sexualizes me as a minor and looks bad to employers, as there have been spam sites that claim to have this video of me, with tags such as #sexygirl #teen. This is INCREDIBLY disturbing to me, and while I can't do anything about those spam sites, I DO want to get rid of this IMDb page. I don't even have an IMDb account, and I had to make one just to post this because I've run out of options.

There is no reason it should be there, and I don’t know who the hell would even do this!

Can someone please help me?

Sorry to hear that.

I would strongly suggest that you take up this matter in private and file a report through the IMDb Contact Us form.

IMDb Contact Us page form:
https://help.imdb.com/contact

Suggested path:
IMDb Contributor -> I need help and haven't submitted an update -> Titles -> Delete a title -> Email

Include the URLs of the following:
  • This discussion page.
  • The name page
  • The title page
The purpose of the report is to remove the name page and the title page. In my opinion, I don't believe the title was eligible and should be removed. You should receive a message from an IMDb representative by email.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

As GMJ stated this title is not eligible and you should contact IMDb privately

To help you, I have highlighted some criteria on which you can argue that the title is not eligible:

For a work to be eligible for inclusion in the database it must be of general public interest and should be available to the public or have been available in the past. We accept most kinds of films/TV shows, including big screen and direct-to-DVD features; web series; documentaries; video games; experimental films and short films. General public interest is assumed if a work has been:

  • Released in cinemas.
  • Shown on TV.
  • Released on video or the web or prints have been made available to the public.
  • Listed in the catalog of an established video retailer; (e.g. Amazon.com).
  • Accepted and shown on film festivals.
  • Made by a (now) famous artist or person of public interest.
  • Made famous for some reason and is widely talked about/referenced in media or the 'film community' or is now of general historic interest for some reason.

NOTE: Unless general public interest is assumed for one of the reasons stated above, general public interest is NOT given for titles:

  • Made for private home use only (i.e. like a home movie, which is of a strictly private nature).
  • Made for local consumption by friends, family members and neighbours, the local school campus etc. (including "local access television").

Videos which are primarily distributed online can qualify for listing on IMDb based on the following criteria. (These criteria do not apply to titles which qualify for IMDb listing as theatrically released films, made for video titles, or television programming.)

Online videos must be available to the public for viewing, either free or for a fee. Videos which are set for private viewing only by selected persons are not eligible for listing.

I have already deleted the "sexy-woman" keyword associated with this title.

If you ask me this keyword should be terminated from IMDb, but that is another debate.

Wow, it just blows my mind someone was able to get that title accepted into IMDB. Some people can get these kind of invalid spam garbage entries accepted all the time and I'm having trouble getting my valid submissions accepted even after dozens of proofs and explanations etc.. It's just weird.

Hope you can get it resolved as soon as possible.

Jessie, glad you were able to be helped; you can have an IMDb account but not a page: I don't have a page, and having done a bit of work with some majors stars back many moons ago, I could but I'm not interested.

You can now use your IMDb account to vote movies up or down (for instance, you can vote the awful Wizard of OZ a 1/10 and let that sink down into oblivion for posterity) and if you watch TV (what else is there to do now!?) you might find it fun to contribute trivia or goofs.

Just by reading on your favorite shows/movies, you'll get a feel for what qualifies as either & you might enjoy contributing. It can be addicting. You could also review great movies, like the original The Matrix and rate that 10/10, but don't let my opinionated opinion sway you either way. ;-)  Welcome!
