The soundtracks section is screwed up. I have been to the soundtrack listing for the 1951 "Show Boat", and among the musical numbers, the Finale is listed first, but I can't correct it, because when you click "Correct", the correct numerical order for the songs appears, and the Finale is listed as 20. Either you have a bug in your system or someone is sleeping on the job.

While someone has entered numbers for order, they all seem to be "uncredited" which means an order should not have been submitted in the first place. So, changing that order, I believe should not be done to "correct" one, but numbered order should instead, be removed. I don't know for sure, but that numbering, which seems correct, might ironically be causing the inaccurate order.

For a period a while ago, IMDb required that all Soundtrack entries be given a number, and the decision at that time was that the credited should be listed followed by the uncredited ones, all with sequence numbers.

While you still cannot leave the numbers blank, you can enter a zero, which according to the form will put the item at the end of the list.

I am not sure what the policy is on numbering uncredited songs now that this option is there.

Oddly enough, on IMDbPro "Finale" is listed in 19th place, not 1st. Another variation - on the regular IMDb the two versions of "Cakewalk" are in 17th and 19th places. On Pro the two versions are in 6th and 17th places. Internally the numbering skips #9, and has "Montage: Make Believe" as #0.

The IMDb Soundtrack Guide says:
The ordering for Soundtrack items should reflect the appearance of the song information in the End Credits. For uncredited songs, they should follow any credited songs and be in order of their 'appearance' within the title.
So the 'order' field is only supposed to be filled in for songs that are listed in the end credits. And uncredited songs should be listed in order of appearance. What it doesn't tell us is how we're supposed to get those uncredited songs in order of appearance - is that a matter of deleting and re-adding until it's right?

Where does it say that the order field should only be used for credited songs?

I think I thought it was implied in the quoted text above and lumped it in with other uncredited listings...I think cast/crew, for instance says it. Still there's a problem correcting it if the numbered field displays differently.
