Stage manager listed as director?

I noticed that on some episodes of "Jeopardy!", the "Directed by" listings on IMDb include both Kevin McCarthy and John Lauderdale, with Lauderdale having the attribute (stage manager). See, for example, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt6002728/fullcredits. In fact, Lauderdale has 67 episodes of "Jeopardy!" and 18 episodes of "Wheel of Fortune" where he is listed as a director with the attribute (stage manager).

In fact, I checked the credits of the episode linked in the previous paragraph (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt6002728/), and they did say "Directed by Kevin McCarthy" and "Stage Manager: John Lauderdale".

So my question is -- should a stage manager be listed in the Directors section where an episode has someone else credited as director as well? Normally, my inclination would be to list the stage manager under Miscellaneous Crew, where Lauderdale has a number of his stage manager credits listed, based on https://contribute.imdb.com/updates/guide/directors.

But since he has already had 85 episodes as stage manager listed in the Directors section, maybe the staff intentionally accepted those credits, in which case I wouldn't try to correct them.

Could the staff please let us know how these stage manager credits are intended to be listed? Thanks.

Hi gromit82 -

Thanks for pointing out these episode credits, I'm just checking on this with our data editors to confirm if these credits were listed in error under the Director category, or if there was a specific  exception made here.  As soon as I get the clarification from them I will update you here.

Hi gromit82 -

Just following up here to confirm that the credits you pointed out were listed in error under the "Director" section, they have now been moved to the correct 'Miscellaneous Crew' section on the site.  Cheers!

Michelle: Thanks for addressing this, but it looks like someone has continued to submit stage manager credits in the Director section for the same person for more episodes since then.

Could the staff please bring this to the attention of whoever is submitting these credits?

Hi gromit82 -  Apologies for not seeing this reply sooner!  A ticket has been filed for our data editors and they will take a look as soon as they can to get the credits straightened out and reach out to the contributor in question.

Hi gromit82,

Thanks I've moved the remaining live credits on Jeopardy! to the Miscellaneous Crew section and contacted the user responsible.

Regards,
Will

Hi gromit82,

We've also put a re-route in the submissions interface to move stage manager credits to the miscellaneous crew department.

(Additional question related to this...)

Is "studio director" (usually in the studio/stage environment or in the live events being the "eyes and ears" of the director, guiding the guests/crew etc) also listed under "Miscellaneous Crew" section? I assume that not under "Second Unit or Assistant Director"?

Thank you.

The occupation title "studio director" is located in at least three different categories:

Second Unit Directors or Assistant Directors (57)
Other Crew (506)
Directors (911 - in the attribute section)

Despite the data number being the lowest of the three and the job description you provided, I'd prefer submitting a studio director credit in the Second Unit/Assistant Directors category.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info.

Yes,  "Second Unit/Assistant Directors" category seems to be the "best" place for "studio directors" (since essentially they're assistant directors, at least in the basic studio productions etc), but it seems a bit odd that they're now listed in three different categories. Maybe IMDB should clarify this? At least the "system" doesn't pick this up like it sometimes does.
