My STARmeter ranking is alternating. When I go to the data table in IMDb Pro it shows two different numbers at different times of the day. When I go to the graph, it shows one of those numbers, the largest one which I believe is incorrect. This appears to be a glitch on IMDB's system. Do you know about this/is it being worked on? Thanks.

There's a problem affecting the display of some STARmeter pages, which causes an incorrect ranking to be shown at times. We are currently working to address it, and it should be fixed within 24 to 48 hours on the regular IMDbPro.com site.
In the meantime, if you go to http://pro-labs.imdb.com you'll be able to see the correct rankings (that site is unaffected by the problem and will always display the correct info).

Giancarlo, are you referring to the regular IMDb Pro? Pro-Labs says it is a prototype version which means it is susceptible to errors. My ranking on the Pro-Labs website is much different than on the regular one (regular one looks much more in-tune with my past rankings); Also the regular one is the rank that is published on IMDb.com profiles.

if there's a discrepancy between the STARmeter rank on IMDbPro.com and Pro-Labs, the latter will be the correct one.
Shannon Guess (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3735316/?r...) the girl who sent laced letters to the President got all kinds of media attention two weeks ago which caused her to be #1 on the STARmeter June 9. Since then attention to her has gone down significantly (according to Google Trends) which as a result should change her STARmeter. Pro-Labs says she's #3, while the regular IMDbPro.com says she is #38. #38 is much more believable. IMDbPro.com appears to be much more accurate than Pro-Labs.
This problem has not been resolved. And I think George is right. The Pro-Lab is not showing the correct rank. I wonder if Giancarlo is aware of this.
How many people has this affected cause it's sending mine off. When will this get fixed?
I've worked hard for a lower number, kind of depressing to see it so high.
My guess is that it'll be on Monday.

Same here, in fact ranking went down even lower, just checked, with new number on the graph. What is going on???

This has now been fixed. All rankings have been updated and are displayed consistently across all pages/sites.
If you are still seeing different rankings for the same name and week, please make sure you force a refresh/reload of the page and the data should update correctly.

I see many of this week's STARmeter showing inconsistent ranks to their history. Is this because of criteria change? Or because of the error you had? Are the ranks go back to normal next week?
No it has not been fixed, in fact now it is even higher - it is 40,000, which is so wrong.

As I said in your thread on this - how do you know it isn't fixed? How do you know there wasn't a problem with the previous ranking that has now been corrected?

This is not to say that there isn't a problem that needs looking into, but you'd need evidence like the OP had - numbers fluctuating wildly in a day, odd numbers on IMDB Pro, etc.

Have you seen any IMDb staff claiming they'd corrected any problems previously existed? Have they said they'd changed any algorithm? I haven't seen any of those. Have you seen it? If you've seen it somewhere, please provide the link to it.

The post we are commenting on says the problems have now been fixed. The thread is marked as "solved." Staff clearly believe they have resolved this issue. If people want them to re-examine this issue then they need to provide evidence, which you've now done (and it does seem like this needs looking at again).

Just to clarify: the issue reported here was the fact that STARmeter rankings were in some cases being displayed inconsistently (i.e. some pages showed different rankings for the same person/week when reloading the page). This has been fixed. Variations in STARmeter rankings from one week to the next are normal and even steep ones are not unusual.

Giancarlo, I'm not so sure if you're willing to fix the problem. I've seen you claiming that IMDbPro-labs was not affected by the problem, but many of us disagreed. If the change was normal, why are you seeing this many reports in the first place? Please be reasonable since we rely on your help. Are you open to the idea of looking into the numbers on IMDbPro-Labs?

Like I said, mine dropped from 30,000 to 900,000 and I know I have a lot of fans since I am one of the most popular sports writers in Canada and France. I have a lot of fans who watch the web series I wrote and produced and my fans watch all of my activity in anticipation of a new web series and a film. I doubt that suddenly my fans all stopped reading me at the same time.

I dont quite get this system, I I have worked on the right projects and been promoted correctly and for teh last year or so have been above 15k then in the last 2 weeks dropped to 150,000..........I dont quite understand the radical drop....The last time I was that low was 2008 and have labored to keep that up there.....I dont get it

ok this is from the first of the year..........and as I said in another post....I don't quite get this system, I have worked on the right projects and been promoted correctly and for the last year or so have been above 15k then in the last 2 weeks dropped to 150,000..........I don't quite understand the radical drop....The last time I was that low was 2008 and have labored to keep that up there.....I don't get it. If there is something I need to do differently I would like to know. I put in a lot of time and effort to building a nice solid base and the results are terrible....I love IMDB and want to work with it but I don't know the rules anymore....and what I as an actor can do to improve them

and if they are changing what they are looking at that's fine......but are they looking for more projects, commercially high end jobs, are they setting up an arrangement with CD's and directors and agents, etc etc. I don't know. But if promoting yourself to direct people to IMDB through personal websites, Facebook, Backstage, and other online casting sites etc to increase traffic is not the norm......just say it and I will not waste time and effort sending people that way I will work it based on the new requirements. I can still be very visible without linking to IMDB, but I choose to continue to use their service. And IMDB should understand that we, as business people, promoting ourselves, 'The product', want to know if their service is the "product of choice" as an avenue of promotion and is it worth the time and money?

This seems to be a different issue, there were rapid fluctuations in the Starmeter (within a day). This has now been fixed.
Now I suspect it was related to the wider issue people have been reporting (there does indeed seem to have been a change in the way the Starmeter is calculated or, at least, a change in the way data is filtered or collected perhaps, and something went wrong with the changeover on IMDB Pro) but it is not the same and so seems to be correctly marked as closed.

Thanks for the help so far emporer, may Giancarlo Cairella can chime in on the fluxuation and the lower locked in score. I know briefly, my score was 150,459 and I jumped and refreshed it and it read 10,459. so then I had not been back in a few days and then I returned this past weekend to see it reverted to 150,459. I waited for this past weekend and it dropped even more......thats the time line for me....any thoughts? :~)
