I've tried adding the Adventure, Mystery and Sci-Fi genres to Lunar Jim (2006-), but my submission got declined. I added some evidence and links, but they declined my submission without a reason.
The genres are listed under Animation, Family. Just Adventure, Mystery and Sci-Fi have to be listed under this title as well.

Chris. I have noticed a pattern with IMDb. Cartoons pretty much do not have Sci-Fi added. This is due to the fact that there is no real science applied. Just a fantasy spin is used so to say. Another contributor was just recently on get satisfaction on another title requesting the same additions you are. The had evidence just like you do. The request to add Sci-Fi was denied. As were the other 2 genres. I agreed that the genres would be a good addition, but IMDb just does not add those Genres to cartoons.
