RE: #190729-193149-004000

I enjoy keeping IMDB open as I watch shows.  While watching Medici (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5057130/), I found several errors in the IMDB listing for Series 2 (Medici: The Magnificent in 2018) characters listed as if they appeared in Series 1 (Medici: Masters of Florence in 2016) when they have not. Series 2 takes place 20+ years AFTER Series 1.

The best example is Daniel Sharman who plays Lorenzo de'Medici in Series 2.  His IMDB credits say he's appeared in ALL 16 episodes to date, even though his character hasn't even been born yet at the end of series 1.  In Series 1 (Masters of Florence), Lorenzo de'Medici is played by Stuart Martin and is the great-uncle of the Lorenzo played by Sharman.

Twice I have written this out as additional evidence for the proposed edit to IMDB.  Even Wikipedia lists the different characters -- Lorenzo the Elder and Lorenzo the Magnificent.

I'm not sure how much more evidence I need and it appears that the reviewer never watched the show.

As a new contributor, I'm very confused on why the submission was declined.  Can someone give some guidance on what is considered proper evidence for future corrections?  I don't want to waste time suggesting legitimate corrections only to have them repeatedly declined.

Many thanks!

Hi amylhampton -

I see that you tried removed " Lorenzo de'Medici" from episode 1.1 of the series and your update wasn't accepted because our editors were unable to verify the information.  Can you confirm that his name wasn't credited on-screen for the episode?

Michelle,

Thank you for your quick response.  I guess the business of confirmation is why I am writing.  I have watched the opening and closing credits for Medici: Masters of Florence (2016) several times and Daniel Sharman does not have a cast credit in any of the episodes.  Sharman only appears in the 2018 series Medici: The Magnificent.

The TL;DR; explanation is that Sharman's character hasn't been born yet during Medici:Masters of Florence. (He's the unborn child referenced in episode 1.8  at 49:58/Netflix as Lucrezia and Contessina are walking in the parade with the Pope)  There is no cast credit for Sharman until episode 2.01, Old Scores.

Twice I have tried to explain to your editors that there are two characters named Lorenzo de'Medici (LdM) -- the first is played by Stuart Martin and is the younger brother of the main character, Cosimo (Richard Madden).  Historically this LdM is known as Lorenzo the Elder.

The other, played by Sharman in Season 2,  is Lorenzo deMedici and is historically known as Lorenzo the Magnificent and is the namesake and great-nephew of Lorenzo the Elder.  Two family members with the exact same name.

My question as a new contributor is this:  how do I provide evidence to your editors of this error?  I've written out the explanation using data from the show.  I've watched the credits several times to make sure that this was a legitimate correction.  What type of evidence is required to prompt a correction like this?  Screenshots?  Video clip?   Wikipedia reference?  Trade show article or blog post?

Your guidance is much appreciated,
Amy

EDIT:  A quick search found this article from Variety  (https://variety.com/2017/tv/global/daniel-sharman-bradley-james-netflix-medici-1202522384/)  The opening paragraph states:
The producers of Netflix and Rai’s “Medici: Masters of Florence” have completed casting for season two, with Daniel Sharman and Bradley James among the new names on the Frank Spotnitz and Nicholas Meyer-created Italian period drama, Variety has learned.
Is this is kind of evidence your editors require?
