Another thing that could be included in the submission forms is more
sanity-checking. For example, when a cast list is submitted, there
should be an automatic check for missing/duplicate credit order numbers,
merging both the corrections to existing cast and the additional cast.

Maybe that could be triggered by pressing the Submit button as opposed
to the Review or Save buttons, to say "I've been round the loop several
times adding more credits and saving the current state to guard against
crashes (both of which shouldn't trigger tedious and repeated sanity
checks) and now I think I'm ready for you to apply a one-off sanity
check before you accept the data".

Maybe you should also issue warnings for any cast that has no credit order yo say that it
should probably have an (uncredited) attribute if most of the rest of
the cast has credit orders. That might at least send a clear warning to
the annoying people who add uncredited cast (extras) to the end of
credited cast without giving those people an "uncredited" attribute -
they probably do it because they know that if they make a person
uncredited, he will be invisible if he doesn't have any credited roles,
and by not making them uncredited they are bypassing this check :-)

As
regards the "Save" button, is there any chance of changing its
behaviour so it not only saves the current state to the Contribution
History but also takes you back into the form, to save an extra tedious
stage of Submit giving you a link with the ID which you then have to
click to carry on adding credits.
