I volunteered to help IMDB straighten out factual errors years ago after coming across too many of them for my taste.
For the first several years, my submissions were accepted and integrated into an incrementally improved Internet Movie Database.
Recently, however, IMDB has rewarded my hard work with a rash of "Declined" messages, often with the following canned answer: "We have been unable to verify your contribution. Unfortunately we were unable to accept your submission as we were unable to verify the information provided."
This despite the fact that I am rather meticulous about providing multiple examples of easily verified evidence which the review need only actually review in order for the need for the correction becomes glaringly apparent.
Apparently, IMDB values the shoddy, attention-deficit opinions of reviewers quick to punch the "Declined" button over the submissions of people like myself with advanced degrees and careers chock full of highly detailed endeavors.
You're not paying me, yet I'm the one doing all the work required to get the details right.
If I receive one more brain-dead "Declined," I will find better uses for my time than wasting it on a service whose managers appears to no longer value either accuracy, attention to detail or hard work.
