An actor is listed as appearing in 4 upcoming episodes of a TV show, but the character he plays is now deceased in the show.

The Walking Dead - Season 8 - Episodes 13-14-14-16.
Chandler Riggs plays Carl Grimes
This character is now dead in this show as of Episode 9 of this season. He has, correctly, not been included in the actors appearing in any episodes since his death on the show in episode 9, but he is now listed in the final 4 episodes of season 8.

I'm not sure how to go about getting this corrected. How accurate is this information on imdb? I've always assumed in the past that I could rely on the accuracy of this info, but this is clearly incorrect.

Well, this is a show about walking dead! But seriously, I’ve seen this many times where actors somehow are mechanically added in to every episode and it takes actually watching every episode to rule them out. Even after they “die” they can be revived in flashbacks at any time. Of course, if you delete them, you’ve got to provide a good reason. I think it also helps to have a good track record with IMDb. Ultimately, the information in the db is only as accurate as the inputter wants it to be. You have the ability to correct errors but sometimes it’s not easy, and takes time, to do so. If you are a fan of the show, you’ll have to watch those 4 episodes, carefully check if they appear in them and then make any appropriate deletion submissions.

Hello, Tiffany.

It should be noted that main cast of the series is usually automatically credited in every single episode of the season per their contract (they are also paid for each episode regardless of the fact whether they actually appear in it). Therefore such instances are ALWAYS listed in filmographies as "(credit only)".

Even if the character died, actor will, most likely, be listed in main titles until the end of the season. Since a few episodes were not yet released we also have no way of knowing whether he might appear in flashbacks (or, considering the nature of the series, as a zombie). In istances like this main cast is automatically credited on each and sinlge episode and, if actors have not appeared in the episode, supplied with an additional "(credit only)" attribute.

Sorry. The regular cast is not automatically credited for every single episode. I should know as I often add the cast (though not to this show). It is very likely someone added the cast when they entered the episodes at the beginning of the season without knowing that Carl would die in the season. I have been correcting that as I go along each week. (He's been credited every week since he died and then I have to renumber all the cast members after him. This is one of the problems with filling out the cast so far in advance.)

Also, note, just because the character died does not mean he could not reappear either in a a fantasy sequence or in a flashback.

I'm not watching "The Walking Dead", but considering that actor has a few previous "(credit only)" attributes on that show it seems that he might have been at least credited in the later episodes. However cases of main cast actor disappearing from the credits in the middle of the season and then reappearing in main titles for actual appearances do happen. Examples include Ray Wise on Season 2 of "Twin Peaks" and, more recently, Neil Sandilands in Season 4 of "The Flash". Netflix shows seemingly ditched "(credit only)" situation altogether, only crediting actors in the opening if they appear in the episode. Is AMC doing that on TWD? Because on "Preacher" main cast is always credited, regardless of actual appearance.
