Sean Penn, Dustin Hoffman, or Claire Danes were the best performances of the ones I've seen, I think and, as for most moving, I'd say Penn.

Thank you.

I'm annoyed my photos still haven't been approved... I guess I can replace them and repush if they are ever ok'd. In two instances it says they have been approved but then they aren't actually up on the site. :(

There are some really good actor's and films in this list but to me (someone who has aspergers) none of them "pull off" autism. its not something you can fake easily that's why the ppl who try usually fail and are found out quite quickly (yes there are ppl who try to convince others they're autistic when they arnt) its like the kid who plays the autistic savant doctor in that medical show (I forget the name now cos the show is drivel) he talks like a robot and I have no clue where he's gotten that idea about autistic ppl cos no one that I've met talks like that. Also congrats to the maker of this "poll" there arnt many ppl who would have the audacity to make something like this just to score worthless points of the back of a legitimate disability! drop me a message if you want to go throw rocks at ppl in wheelchairs some time I'm sure I could create a point system good enough to feed your ego

I think what Jen rather wanted to do was to shine a light on autism and raise awareness. Whether that succeeded and whether the movies are good examples is open to question. But it's not about feeding your ego and certainly not comparable to throwing rocks at people with disability.

Albstein what u say makes sense but it sounds like an excuse to me, if someone wants to "shine a light" as you say there are quite a few places to do it that would be wayyyyyy more appropriate than a poll on a movie database website. From my experience everything that Neuro typical ppl do is to feed their egos (or excuse their disgusting behaviour) and I for one feel that shining a light on autism should be left to autistic ppl because if you stopped an asked an autistic person most of them would likely just want to be left alone to live their lives

John G I dont agree that anyone is trying to boost egos. But 99% of the people voting on the poll probably cant name the 3 core symptoms of the top of their head so why ask for there opinion?

Having Asperger's syndrome doesn't necessarily make a person an expert on Asperger's syndrome. Likewise, having an autism spectrum disorder doesn't necessarily make a person an expert on an autism spectrum disorder. One would likely have to be exposed to countless persons accurately diagnosed as having autism in order to get a feel for wide variety of ways that persons associated with the spectrum are like.

Furthermore, psychology is not an exact science. It's actually more insulting to pretend that psychology is anywhere near perfect than for writers, directors and actors to collaboratively muck up a portrayal of "autism", either out of over-the-top artistic license or due to ignorance of the subject material. It silly for a person with autism to see it as a mockery, when it may have little to do with the way that specific person is
, since "autistic" behavior comes in a variety of forms.

Sigh!

I can see I'm clearly wasting my time here because all of you have completely missed my points and have instead decided that because you can't understand me I'm wrong! Enjoy your lives I won't be wasting anymore of my time on you

It seems I'm too late.  I'd intended to vote for "Ben X."  It was tragic seeing Ben go through suddenly being capable of effective verbal communication with his mother for the first time in his life and she's too frenzied in the moment to hear anything he's saying to her in the brief time before the drug's effect would be gone and he'd be closed off from everyone again.  It couldn't last and it broke my heart seeing him shoot across the range from debilitating impairment to suddenly experiencing new feelings of human connection and potentially even feeling he could realistically be understood by others but it can't last so it's really very tragic.  On a separate note, the weapon he assembled was brilliant.
-I was pleased to see "Cube" included in the poll!  Not because it was a moving performance, I'm just hard-coded pro-"Cube."
