A Mexican standoff is a situation in which three or more people are all pointing their guns (or other weapons) at each other. If anyone shoots, they will all die but usually someone loses their nerve and a shoot-out occurs.

Dan, please let me know about the photo formatting. I tried to help things by adding black bars to some of the images... :/

Jen, it doesn't need to be three or more. It can be two. It just needs to be that one cannot move or kill another with out getting killed himself.
Here are three in which two are from the Batman movies involving The Joker. In Batman, (1980), Lt. Eckhardt draws on Jack Napier and Bob the goon, standing behind Napier, draws on Lt. Eckhardt.
In "The Dark Knight", the mafia goons draw on Joker but the joker has finger on the trigger button to all grenades in his jacket.
The third one is the cafe scene with Jones and Belloc in "Raiders Of The Lost Ark".

The Jules/Vincent/Yolanda stand-off in Pulp Fiction, which is tense and suspenseful but also really funny, and we also get to listen to that beautiful monologue by Jules. Of course, the dialogue is also exquisite -- and hilarious. On the the old poll board, my "signature" was always the quote, "Yolanda, what's Fonzie like?" Lol. I remember one of my first times on there, James responded to one my my posts with simply, "Cool," and then I think it was Peter who posted, "Correctomundo." Lol.
The only image that seems like it would crop well for the homepage would be #16. The black bars were a great idea and they help with the bottom and top but a lot of the images would probably not crop well on the sides -- for the homepage, that is. I trust Dan's judgement more than mine on this issue so he might notice a few others that might work for the first five slots. Oh, has he told you about checking the images using the grid option? If you view the list as a grid, and not a list, that's a pretty good approximation of how it would crop on the homepage.
'Great poll!

Jen and Ruby,
http://www.imdb.com/list/ls020591468/?view=grid
The grid view is a good indication of what a poll would look like if it were to be run on the IMDb Home Page. The first five images are the only ones that are used for the image when a poll is run on the IMDb Home Page.
The images are great; however, the participants in the Mexican Standoff are in the periphery most of the images. As a result, the cropping done for the home page would cut off most of the action. The images probably would not make much sense if it were to be run on the IMDb Home Page.

Oh, I usually tell people about the grid view; 'sorry I forgot to. I thought that maybe #16 could be moved to the top five but I couldn't find others. It's too bad that such a good poll is, because of the subject matter, unlikely to have photos that would work on the homepage. Almost by definition, Mexican stand-offs are going to have people on the periphery and not in the center: you'd think that when these scenes were choreographed, the least that the filmmakers could do is be mindful of the cropping problem, lol.

I figured there'd be no way it would be on this front page even if it went live.

Jen, could you add a question to the intro?
I know it's understood that you're asking for most memorable, but I think it looks better with a question there.
Or a question mark after the title would work too.

For 1 , try when they are closer together. This might crop well http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060196/m... and this http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060196/m...

The ones you suggest only show two of the participants when in the list.

Jen,
The poll look fine as it is. There is no need to re-arrange the images. It just won't be eligible for the IMDb Home Page due to cropping issues inherent in the kind of images suitable for a Mexican Standoff.

Truthfully, I don't think you are going to get all three unless they are closer together. Remember the walk away from each other in that scene until they arrive at their final positions. Here are a few more. One looks promising in you can edit the title out of it.

Otherwise I would go with the one with the gun in the foreground and hope people remember that it was a three way showdown.
Actually crop the title out of it and a little of the left side too.

Thanks Dan. I actually started this list over a year ago. I had it listed by title and then had web addresses people could go to to see a pic of the standoff. Now that we can add photos I went back and uploaded most of the pics you see on the list. Persistence pays off!

Where is Free Fire? Having recently seen the film I was going to vote for it the moment I saw the poll description. I would have thought it was the ultimate Mexican Standoff film and find it very strange that it's not been included in your poll. Any chance to add it to your list?
