The recent announcement that The Big Bang Theory (2007) will be ending with the upcoming twelfth season caught many by surprise. Leaving a major hit TV show can be hard, no matter how big the star is. For every Jennifer Aniston from Friends, you have 10 Shelley Longs from Cheers.

I think they will suffer less from "typecasting" than Friends cast members (you know, X will always be...) but ironically, the one I'm the least optimistic about is Jim Parsons. When I saw him in Hidden Figures, I couldn't stop thinking "this is Sheldon!" and could only take him half-seriously.
