Darkest Hour
The world is in dire need of true leaders. Winston Churchill was a truly remarkable leader during World War II.
By the way, I may change the above two sentences after giving this more thought.

A war movie with an intense background score, brings the true feeling of suspense of war. And as always, Nolan never disappoints.

A beautiful and realistic depiction of one of the more unknown wars in history; it truly feels like witnessing a piece of the past. I can't imagine a more worthy film for Finland's one hundredth anniversary.

An honest look at people living on the margins of society, this is a heartbreakingly exquisite and resonant celebration of the innocence of childhood and the beauty that can be found in the most surprising places. The virtuoso Willem Dafoe gives what might be the best performance of his career, Sean Baker hits every directorial note perfectly, and six year old Brooklyn Prince, who carries the lead role, is such a compelling and life affirming presence that you'll feel everything that she does, mightily.

Guillermo del Toro's ability to create these magical dark worlds is always so interesting in themselves. Couple that with Micheal Shannon as the lead, this is a can't miss movie.

Still haven't seen The Post, Downsizing ... but if it's the former? I'll go with
Germany's Foreign Language Oscar submission In the Fade 2017.
Critically acclaimed first generation German director from Turkish parentage, he deftly handles race and class in contemporary Germany.

In that case I will nominate Phantom Thread (2017)
Daniel Day-Lewis is one of the most recognized actors, with at least 141 awards to his name. He has not appeared on film since his aclaimed performance as Lincoln in 2012, and he has already announced he is retiring from acting, so this is likely to be the last time we will see him in the big screen.

I am pretty current on movies, plus with only two weeks left in the year not much content left in the year, plus I purposefully try to keep myself in the dark about movies to better enjoy them, so I don't have a submission otherwise.
I would be more interested in hearing about "must see" recommendations on "under the radar" titles other poll board members have actually seen.

Actually, I really liked the thought of nominating a film we have seen and would recommend to others.
I mean, there isn't much of 2017 left, so we'll probably get a chance to watch the movies we nominate before this poll goes live.
And it might be more interesting for the poll takers to read about how we felt about the film, than our expectations of it.
they most wanted (needed?) to see before the end of 2017.Or does it not matter if we're not able to see the film we nominate before the end of 2017, even though that's what we would want?

A 2017 film you most want to see. Whether you actually have access to it or not.
Oh, cool. Because, although I've seen the one I chose, I'm dying to see it again. I only saw it once and it just wasn't enough so, since then, I've been making do with watching interviews with the director, reading every review I can, etc, but if I can get to a city that's still showing it, I will, by the end of this year if possible.

It's hard to make a film 'so bad it's good' but Tommy Wiseau's The Room (2003) did just that by making what many have referred to as the "Citizen Kane" of bad movies. What will make The Disaster Artist such an intriguing watch is the fact that the Franco brothers have a genuine love for the film and for the man who had a dream to make his vision come to life. It'll be hilarious but also humanistic and I'm incredibly excited for this one - - - Oh Hi Mark!

they hadn't yet see that they most wanted to see before the end of 2017English is not my first language, but I think this sentence should be:
"they hadn't seen yet and they most wanted to see before the end of 2017."
My choice is Lucky (2017). The movie poster really appeals to me. That's enough for me to put this movie on top of my watchlist. I love it!! What makes this movie extra interesting, that's because it's the last film of Harry Dean Stanton. He died on September 15th, 2017. And also because David Lynch is in this movie.

I really want to make this one work but it doesn't seem like I've found a good way to say what I'm trying to say.
