On the season 6 finale of Elementary (2012), Watson and Holmes had moved to England and it appeared as if they were going to stay. While it does happen, it's quite rare for a show to pick up and move to another location. In these other instances, which move do you think worked best?

Jen,

I'm assuming that your poll only includes television shows with permanent locations and that shows with constantly changing locations such as Touched by an Angel (1994–2003), The Fugitive (1963–1967) and The Incredible Hulk (1978–1982) would not fit the criteria for this poll. Is that correct?

Weird, one of my responses disappeared.

Yes, Dan, you are correct. Otherwise I'd be including Supernatural or The X-Files or Highway to Heaven.

No walking the Earth like Caine from Kung Fu.

Not sure why I put Watson and Jones when it's obviously Watson and Holmes. If any admins see this, please correct my initial post. Thanks.

PS...Watson's first name is Joan, maybe there's where the Jones popped up from.

Jen,

I updated your original post in this thread changing Watson and Jones to Watson and Holmes.

Considering yesterday's testimony in the Senate, were you perchance thinking of:
Watson v. Jones, 80 U.S. 679 (1871)
https://supreme.justia.com/cases/federal/us/80/679/

Yes, this is a stretch.

Jen,

This may be a stretch:
Boy Meets World (1993–2000)

Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence start out in middle school and eventually move onto college. During the last two episodes (Brave New World: Part 1 and Brave New World: Part 2) they move from Philadelphia to New York City.

Are you certain it is rare?
*"Highlander: The Series" was originally set  in the fictional North American city of Seacouver ( a mix of Seattle and Vancouver) but the main cast moved to Paris, France by the end of Season 1. The following seasons had the cast switching back and forth between the two cities . By Season 5, they dropped Seacouver entirely, and all later episodes took place in France.
*"Blackadder" has an Englsh setting for its first 3 seasons, but the main setting of the World War I-themed Season 4 is Flanders, Belgium.

It is fairly rare as many budgets won't allow it. "Preacher" changed primary setting each season so far: Annville, Texas for Season 1, New Orleans for Season 2 and then mostly Angelville, Louisiana in Season 3 with a side plot in New Orleans.

Sometimes setting does not change, but filming location does. Notable case is "NightMan" which had to abandon most of the main cast thanks to the move to Canada in Season 2. I am also not entirely sure what happened to "Dark Justice" (whether they changed setting among with the location: I believe they didn't) but thanks to a change of filming location from Barcelona to LA they had to replace lead actor.
