Talk show spin-off - different series?

Hi.

I started to add a two-season TV series (I will refer to it as a "spin-off" series in this thread) to IMDb, when I noticed that it's currently added as a part of the talk show series (the "first season" of this spin-off series is currently "Season 4" of the talk show series).

Since this is a non-English talk show (no English language links etc), it's probably better to use an example to explain the situation: Let's say that Conan O’Brien has his own talk show, shot in the studio as most of us know. Now (maybe between the seasons) Conan does a spin-off series (with its own title, logo/credits, premise etc) where he goes to different cities to meet different persons. This spin-off series is NOT shown as a part of his core/main series in the studio, so I don't mean short clips outside the studio etc.

That's the case here: a talk show host has her own (core/main) series in the studio, but she also does a shorter (maybe 1-3 seasons) spin-off series where she visits different cities and countries to meet people - outside of the studio environment. And before anyone asks: yes, I have access to different series, all the episodes, opening/end credits, etc. I have the information and I know the full history of the series (that's how I often work, anyway).

So a long story short: My suggestion is to move/merge all the five "episodes" from Season 4 from the "core/main" series under the new, separate "spin-off" series. What is the best approach to do it? Should I first create a new title to IMDB without any episodes (for this "spin-off" series), and only after that "merge" these five episodes to it? That would probably be the easiest option.

Thank you again.

Eboy: Since the "spin-off" series is not yet listed in the database as a series, then, yes, the first thing you have to do is to submit it to be created as a new title in IMDb. (Yes, there are a few episodes of it listed, but they aren't listed under the proper series title.)

Once the "spin-off" series is listed in IMDb as a series, you can then move the existing episodes from the core/main series that they shouldn't be under, to the spin-off series that they should be under. You would do this by submitting an Episode Title/Number correction for each of those episodes, in which you will have the opportunity to change the series to which the episode belongs, as well as the episode number.

Good luck!

Thanks, this is probably the best option to handle this case.
