I shouldn't have been punished in the first place, because it was a misunderstanding. I was in a thread that got deleted and they got everybody together)

But even so, I rolled along and accepted it. I am a long time ACTIVE member (2003) so i continued to post thinking the quota would drop by increments in coming months.

But it's been ten months now and the quota hasn't budged. Will it drop after 12 months? This seems extreme to me. I'm very disappointed, and saddened, about all this. It kindof turns my opinion against IMDB a little. :(

It's not a misunderstanding if they raised your quota. Unless you meant you misunderstood. Again, participating in trolling threads is just as bad as starting them because it gives trolls the attention they seek. Again, the site recommends you report then ignore. Not post in reply to them.

bluesman i beg to differ. i didn't participate, i innocently pointed something out and got blanket punished. i understand the 'report/ignore' policy now, but i hadn't read that before and IMO getting zapped for a first offense is too punitive. i could see zapping the thread, but locking my account? IMO that action should be done more thoughtfully than arbitrarily blanketing a whole thread. yes, zap the thread all at once. but lock all accounts in one stroke? makes no sense.

moreover it's been over a year now, and my limit is still huge: 50 minutes. that's just too stiff a punishment for a faithful user like me, sorry if you disagree but i say it's too harsh. i didn't deserve that.

then to add to it, they give me no recourse to appeal. just a standard "read our policy and figure it out yourself" comment. there should be some way to at least make contact to request a review. there has to be someone doing oversight somewhere. in fact i have spoken to imdb admins before on other issues so i know they are capable of messaging me. it's just diff now that they implemented this 'other board' to do away with the help feature.

i'm disappointed.

and really, on top of everything it's also dumb of them because one could easily go and make a new account and continue right on posting. i haven't done that because i  like keeping a record of my history.

in summary: as a faithful user i can expect to be punished, while the trolls are rewarded for their behavior (the same people imdb claims to be trying to stop, imdb is actually enabling)

IT HAS BEEN OVER ONE YEAR SINCE AUG 2014 SO WHEN WILL MY PUNISHMENT EXPIRE????????????????????????????????????????????

Please see:

What are posting quotas?

Which states:

To prevent abuse we deliberately do not disclose when and how quotas are changed. This is done exclusively by our board admins at their discretion so please do not ask. We will not, under any circumstances, discuss or modify user quotas on request.

Quotas have been determined by our staff after long and careful research over their benefits and effects. For this reason we're sorry but we are not going to entertain debates on their usefulness or over whether any user's quota should be higher or lower.

You posted, rather than ignore, so you participated.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled can some admin please tell me why I was put on 60 min posting quota?.

I just posted something, then went to another board to post again and it says "Posting Quotas Are In Place

Please wait: 60 minutes" Is this just me or all of IMDB?

How long will this quota last? I was not contacted about this, it just happened. Which makes me think it's for everyone not just me?

All I can think of is someone created a "jack warned him" thread on the james garner board and I replied to that thread to say that I thought those weren't allowed anymore. Is it possible that the fact I replied to that thread got me on a quota? If so how long does it last?

It's wrong though since I haven't done anything wrong. I don't understand.

Are there any admins here who can tell me something, please? Thanks
