Described as "The story of an enslaved woman living in Jamaica in 1838 under British rule". The detail of 'British rule' is irrelevant as the story is locally based throughout and rarely makes any reference to anything not directly related to the characters. Also, by 1838 July, the main character, is no longer a slave. A better and more accurate description for the listing would be 'The story of an enslaved woman on a Jamaican sugar plantation in the 1830s'.

Hi Paul (and Ed),

I agree that the single line, plot outline anonymously submitted for The Long Song isn't very good and have taken it upon myself to replace it with one of my own, as follows:-

"An adaptation of the award-winning novel by Andrea Levy. Set during the final days of slavery in 19th century Jamaica, following the trials, tribulations and survival of July and her odious mistress Caroline on a sugar plantation."

I hope that resolves the problem.

Regards
Mark
