The Mandalorian is a Western.

I think that we should add The Mandalorian to the Western genre. I have added small fan/indie Star Wars films about Boba Fett to the Western genre, so why not this series, which is influenced by The Dollars Trilogy and Spaghetti Westerns. Pedro Pascal even says so here.https://variety.com/2019/tv/features/the-mandalorian-jon-favreau-pedro-pascal-western-1203399015/ It has several tropes of the Western genre, so I think that it is a good fit.

No. Seriously? Firefly is called a western in space. Does it have a Western Genre? Of course not!

I don't agree with you. The Mandalorian is based on Western but it is not a Western, A lot of movies and T.V series have a similar plot and mood as The Mandalorian, but if it doesn't take place on earth, it is not a western.

Ed, by your definition, would you say that Longmire, or No Country For Old Men are Westerns? It is subjective based on someone's opinion.

They will be around with an answer (Genres are subjective), a merge, and a no on the western genre.

Not any more are they westerns.
Thanks for pointing out the incorrect genre tags on those titles.
They have been corrected.
A Western is set at at time before the turn of the 20th century. Horses, Homesteads, Covered Wagons era.
When there is an assigned Sci-Fi Western Genre, those titles can have them.

Would ask please that IMDb lock those titles so as to stop a genre war.
Thanks.

Ed, what the hell is your problem? You said genres are subjective. I've read countless articles online calling this a Western. Leave me alone after this! I wish people would stop pissing me off.

I've read countless articles online calling this a Western.

That is totally irrelevant for the issue you brought up. IMDb has definitions of all the genres they currently have (you can find them here: https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/titles/genres/GZDRMS6R742JRGAG?ref_=helpms_helpart_inline...). If the definition is applicable to a title, the genre should be attached to the title. That's all. I haven't seen the title you're talking about and therefore don't have an opinion on whether or not it's a western, but don't get distracted by other information online or even from the makers. It's not relevant for this particular issue.

True, but everything is subjective. That's the sites opinion. Not mine. To me it is a western. But hey, to each their own. I just can't wait to watch the show, but I absolutely will not get Disney +. I'll watch it at a friend's house.

Cowboy General.
Yes, a keyword would be absolutely appropriate. What is not appropriate is resubmitting an "Incorrect" Genre tag to any title. No matter how much you may disagree with the reasoning. Jon has informed you that my explanation along with Cinephile's was "Liked" by an IMDb Employee. We provided the same reply that that staff member would have replied if we had not replied.

It is not a Western Genre.

I made removal submissions on those Sci-Fi titles that you incorrectly tagged with Western Genres.
You have seen fit to go against the decision of IMDb regarding the use of a Western tag on purely Sci-Fi Titles and resubmitted the tags again.
Please cease this. It is not a good thing to be doing.
I have taken the steps necessary to report your behavior.
This is nothing personal. It is a matter of the accuracy needed so that users of this database can rely on the Genre Tags be a reliable source that can be counted upon to be a true and accurate subjective description of the titles content. And we are talking about the majorities subjective opinion, not a minority fringe opinion.
