Hi Patrick,
Could you please link to the episode? There are too many series called the Office, and much more programs called The Farm...

Vincent, a question?
Did you add the episode, then merge them?
There is only one submission number.

Hi Ed,
No I just performed a name change: "The Office" (2005) {The Farm (#9.17)}
Since all the other information seemed consistent (including the release date), I went ahead.

I think this way you've successfully triggered the episode to be reverse edited to its initial state (see below tt2572744 by Peter). If it was initially added as TV-Movie, you'd rather need to create then merge (see above by Ed). I'm not 100% sure because I've not merged episodes before... Anyway, good try, Vincent )))

As MAthePA said, I was asking how you converted it to a TV Episode for season 9.
Did you just change the movie part?
Would like to see how you accomplished changing a TV Movie into a single episode of a TV Series

I see. Cool. That way is shorter. One step. Excellent!
Thanks MtP

The problem is that IMDb help for how the types should be properly marked when adding -- this really gives the place to think it must be two steps to merge in another type.

This is the way I did it.
Apparently, so far, it has not been processed, or may have been rejected (it is not tracked by the contribution history tool).

It was apparently listed as a pilot of a possible series that wasn't picked up. The pilot was then used as an episode of The Office.
What seems to have happened recently (this year) is that the existing episode entry (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2572744/) was merged into the TV movie entry, leaving a hole in the series episode list.

Furthermore, if you look at season 9, there was a date gap between 14 Feb 2013 (ep 16 in all the related filmos) and 4 Apr 2013 (ep 18). The Farm is said to have been aired on 14 Mar 2013.

I was under the impression that the only way to accomplish it correctly was to add an episode (IE: the gap between as mentioned), then merge that TV Movie and the newly created "Missing" episode.
Thanks guys!!!
Peter, am I wrong in that hypotheses?
Thanks again all.

Hi All -
Just to clarify this title listing for "The Farm", this title should not be combined as an episode with the existing series "The Office", as this is a separate spin off series. Therefore, "The Farm": is correctly listed as a stand-alone TV movie, as this was a pilot for a new show that didn't get picked up.
The two titles should instead be connected through a 'spin off' Movie Connection addition.

Thanks Michelle.
Which also means then, that the episode sequence numbers should be altered starting April 2013, since there was a gap (9.16 to 9.18).

I'd recommend to leave the numbering as it is. From other side, the empty one invites new but the same contributions in future.
If they be connected through a 'spin off', will this fill the gap to be understood for all?

Hi MAthePA,
To answer your last question: no it will not. It is just a movie connection thought the specific feature, unrelated to the series/episode structure.
I will have a look at that in a few hours.
When it come to leaving the sequence gap as it is, I think it is misleading too. But I am too green in terms of series handling, so I will leave it to some more knowledgeable contributors!

It should possibly be handled as a "shell episode". But then it was wrong of IMDb to merge the episode into the pilot.
"If a title is later shown as an episode of a series then it should be added as a shell episode. No filmography credits relating to the original title should be added to the shell to avoid crediting the work twice on the name pages of those involved. If the individual contributed to new material relating solely to that episode i.e. hosting segment then they are valid credits and may be added to the shell episode). Please also add a trivia item and a movie connection linking the episode to the original title page."

Hi all,
Thanks for letting us know, we've converted the standalone tv pilot back to the episode of The Office as that's how it originally aired.
Regards,
Will

Hi Will,
Thanks for your taking care of this.
Nevertheless, since your post is in contradiction with Michelle's one from yesterday, could you confirm that her feedback has been into consideration before your (final?) assessment?

Good job Will. Glad that was reversed. I was scratching my head on this one. Many TV shows over the years have done episodes that are Quasi Pilots. It still does not make it anything but an episode in the end.
