The use of colors in lists?

I remember that for example  [green][/green] did the trick for a really long time, but seems this feature is gone or there is new code. Can anybody post me an update on that issue? Much appreciated, friends.

This still works on User Profile Pages with Colors
also in "List Description"  but not the Colors

This may have stopped working when...

Hi Horst -

Please note that we currently don't have the option to change the display color on Lists, currently the background color is automatically grayish/off-white.

The markup is for text color, not background.
