On the "My Lists" page, It shows that I have rated 1802 titles. However, when I go to the “My Ratings" page, it says I only have 1801. Also, what's more weird is that, once I use the "refine list" tool on that page, suppose I check the "feature film" box, it says showing 1363 out of 1802, if I then uncheck it (no other filters applied), it says showing 1801 out of 1802. However when I refresh the page, it goes back to say showing 1801 titles. It seems that the 1802nd title doesn't exist. But why does it say 1802 on the "my lists" page and also say 1802 titles whenever I use the "refine list" when I'm on the "my ratings" page? Is this a bug? Is there a way to fix this?

It's a known issue, and is due to the fact that your rating history probably includes a title which has been deleted or merged with another one since you voted for it.

Titles are sometimes merged or deleted or from the database for a number of reasons (typically when we have 2 separate titles which actually refer to the same film). Some sections still include these deleted titles in the count, some don't.

We hope to be able to address this as part of the next round of improvements/fixes for our list feature, but until then there is nothing you can do other than ignore the discrepancy, annoying as it may be...

Thanks for the prompt reply~ it is a bit annoying...but.. I can still live with it~ Hope you and the staff fix it soon! The list is such a great feature to keep track of the films one watch and share them with friends. However, there is another annoying issue. I have posted it in the following link. If you have time, please have a look at it.

Yes, I'm hoping you guys can fix this soon as well. Appreciate all you do for the site and always be vigilant against Top 1000 voter abuse fraud. But yeah, I'm mostly here for the annoying bug issue b/c I have bad memory and paranoia.

But still, very good work all around and my sincere thanks. Any time you guys might have in store for this particular fix?

At least FOUR MONTHS ago this was reported and it's probably been even longer since you guys have KNOWN about this problem. I have lost another vote somehow into the ether from my "Ratings" section although in My Profile it does list a new differential of +1 to bring it up to a total of +13. Only problem is this...

I have been keeping up with my votes on a near daily basis, but I don't have the time to constantly keep tabs on what is being lost b/c IMDB's Ratings page does not show REAL time voting based on "Date" or "Most Recent" or whatever the tab may be. I no longer care....the last two movies I placed into the database before this bug appeared again are still in my "Ratings" as they should be...so where/what rating did I "lose"? Is it lost in the ether? Is it a television show I voted but now it's an "empty rating" if I go to that page later on? This is inexcusable. Might as well take down the ratings all together at this point b/c we already know the Top 250 is a joke that's long been tweaked by trolls. Tv.com has a good database to keep your vote tallies as well as Netflix and RottenTomatoes.

All I'm asking for is this small favor if you cannot fix this bug properly:
Whenever a title is "merged or deleted" you should promptly place it somewhere on our profile pages to let us know what title was merged/deleted (and a reason "why" would help but that might be asking for too much). Asking for a real response is probably asking for too much these days from you guys anyway.

Agreed!

It shows for me a difference of +2,like 1729 out of 1731 sometimes, so its very annoying bug ,which is exists for a long period of time and nothing changed since Giancarlo Cairella promised a quick fix...

I'm sure this isnt too hard to fix, just nobody cared enough so far or not enough people asked for it, so they are ignoring us...

Please IMDB, do something with this issue!

....After 8 months, *sigh*... I have posted another thread to address the issue once again.
https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topi...
I'm pretty sure it only needs a minor tweak to be taken care of, so i guess the only reason it's taking so long is due to the fact that no one at IMDB has yet to look into it.~

There is no need to post again considering it's on the to do list and will be addressed as part of the next round of upgrades as mentioned above.

Murray Chapman in another topic about the same issue wrote about 1 month ago:
The explanation I gave above still holds: some software accounts for
deleted titles and some doesn't. We don't have concrete plans to
address this problem specifically, however as we do other work on these
systems the problem will be fixed bit by bit.

So thats about the we'll fix it in the next update thing... gg imdb

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Number of Rated titles discrepancy!!.

Hi, I have reported this problem quite a few months ago, but it still has yet been solved!
Basically, In the "My Lists" page, It lists that "My Rating (2049 titles)". However, after clicking into the "My Ratings" page, there are only 2048 titles. I know it's a small issue, but it can be quite annoying. And according to the replies from my earlier post, i'm not the only one to be having this problem. One of the employees was very kind to promptly reply and acknowledge the issue, but it seems that after 8 months, there still isn't a solution. Could anyone look into this pleazzzzzzz?
Thanks!!

Note that Giancarlo Cairella did not say that they would fix this soon. What he stated was :
We hope to be able to address this as part of the next round of improvements/fixes for our list feature
Not the next update, but the next time they make improvements to the list feature.  They are currently rewriting the main Update system, and I suspect that other changes will get short shrift until this is complete.

Lists, while very nice to have, are far from the primary focus of the site, and since this particular problem is more an annoyance than a problem, it may be quite a while before IMDb gets around to it.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Titles missed in Vote History(Unsolved Bug).

I could see on my own rating list that one title is missing since yesterday. I've
rated 1,576 titles so far, but only 1,575 titles are shown on the list. Also IMDb's founder Col Needham having this issue as well. Please fix this problem.

Thank you!

I checked the list page and it shows the correct number now, finally this problem solved after 3 years :)

However in the filters the maximum number of votes is 1 million and there are some movies which have 1 million+ votes.
Can u fix the filter?(add one zero so maximum votes will be 10 million)

It's buggy currently, when u for example set this filter, minimum votes:1, then it will not show the titles, which have 1 million+ votes, because of the capped 1 million vote count. Obviously that filter was made when imdb was less popular before 2010, and at that time there were zero movies with 1 million or more votes.

33648 real to 33665 for me. So probably less than whatever it was (a hundred?), yet still not the same number.
There's probably bigger issues than this one on IMDb though.

Well you're voting on all kinds of stuffs, besides feature movies and tv series, which doesnt even have votes.

So i think in your case you should try to vote again on those titles, and see if its fixing the error.
If not, then some imdb developer should look into your profile and search for the missing titles.
I just checked your profile and the missing titles count is still 17, when u have 33800+ rated titles.

Maybe even u can find those 17 missing titles, if u download(export to csv) your ratings list and check it with excel or something. It will take a long time though with that huge number of ratings :D
