As of a couple of days ago, the top ribbon on all your IMDb pages appears somewhat collapsed, so that the "Find Movies, TV shows, Celebrities and more... | All [down arrow]" legend which normally appears in the search box overlays the headings of of the dropdown boxes below, and it is impossible to enter anything in the search box. I can circumvent this by searching on Google and then clicking directly through to what I am trying to find on your site, but this is unwieldy. Also, on the other side, my name is kind of pushed up into the "IMDb Apps" area. I use Windows 8.1 and Google Chrome browser Version 31.0.1650.63 m. If I use Internet Explorer the ribbon appears normal but I much prefer Chrome to Explorer and, until a few days ago, could access your site via Chrome with no trouble. I have used IMDb since at least 1996, and have found it invaluable. (I can't remember when I joined, but it was at least two computers ago.) And I have never had any problems (other than those caused by my own ignorance) using the site before. HELP???

Hi Sandra Buskey,

Thank you for reporting the problem that appears to be associated with Chrome rendering the current release of the IMDb pages. It's helpful that your gave the version of Chrome and Windows. If practical, would you post a screen capture of the top ribbon. This may make it easier for the IMDb technical staff to track down the problem.

I FIXED THIS PROBLEM!!! Actually, what I did was uninstall a dopey Ask.com add-on toolbar that simply appeared at the top of my browser (without my consent or indeed my knowledge) one evening several days ago, about the same time I started having trouble with the IMDb pages. I haven't installed any programs in months, nor have I recently given any permission to add/change anything to my setup – I'm very particular about whom I allow to mess with my stuff - so I have no idea how it got on my system. All it did was clutter up my crisp, clean Chrome browser so I 86ed it and, on a hunch, checked the IMDb pages immediately after. Problem solved (and I had been using IMDb a couple of hours earlier, at which time the pages were still displaying incorrectly). From what I've now read on the Net, this stoopid toolbar has a habit of just appearing and, now that I think about it, I recently did have to reset Google as my default search engine. BAH!!! The unwanted installation of this toolbar did NOT trigger any anti-viral warnings and at least I apparently was able to uninstall it easily, but I hate the feeling of being taken advantage of – I feel like I had read and answered spam!!! Why the Ask.com toolbar would interfere with the IMDb pages is WAY beyond my level of expertise, such as it is, but at least your IMDb pages are now restored to their former glory (and usefulness)...

Sandra,

Thank you for letting us know about the ask.com tool bar mysteriously installing itself and interfering with IMDb.com.
