There is an empty account with a misspelling of my name. How do I delete it?

Hi,

I have an IMDB account under the name J.D. Marlow.  Unfortunately, there is a ghost account with no credits listed as being under Jd Marlow.  This is a problem and I need to know how the ghost account with no credits can be deleted.

The bigger issue is that when you search my name, primarily on the app, ONLY the ghost account appears.  It's impossible to get to my page unless you go through a movie I've worked on first.  This is a really big problem for me!  As people searching my name will think I have no credits.  So I guess it all comes down to just getting that ghost account deleted and making sure when I search my name the proper account shows up.  Can anyone help me with this?

JD: Here's how to solve the problem. I am assuming that you are sure that the "ghost" name page at http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5714830/ really does refer to you.

Go to the Jd Marlow page at http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5714830/. Click "Edit page".

On the next screen, on the Name Correction or Merge line, select "Add correction". Scroll down and click "Continue".

On the next screen, there will be a blank space in which to enter your correct name. Enter it as:
Marlow, J.D.

Make sure that the box marked "Preserve previous name on existing credits. i.e. '(as Jd Marlow)'" is checked.

In the Explanation box, enter something like "I am J.D. Marlow, and the name page under the name Jd Marlow also refers to me even though it has no credits. Both pages refer to me and so they should be merged under my correct name, J.D. Marlow." Click "Check these updates".

On the next screen, you will get a warning that says, "You are about to merge two separate name pages into one. Are you sure you want to merge this person with Marlow, J.D.?" That's what you want, so check the box marked "Warning understood, go ahead anyway." Click "Re-check these updates".

On the next screen, your data should appear with a green background, and you should be able to click "Submit these updates".

Allow a few days for the merge to go through. Good luck!

I followed these steps and the ghost account is now gone. Thank you for the advice. Unfortunately, there is another problem now. When I search my name in IMDB in the search bar, my name doesn't show up at all. If I hit enter and go to the next screen it shows up. But in the drop down list that auto-populates during the search nothing is there! How can I rectify this?? Before the ghost account would populate this during searches. But now that it is gone my actual account doesn't appear to have taken its place during searches. Thank you!

When I scroll down it's no where to be found at all.  It only shows up when I hit SEARCH.

JD: I understand you are talking about how your name does not appear as one of the choices that appear below the search box, as in the example below:

Unfortunately to report, the only way I can think of for you to get listed there would be to become more famous and popular. (This is true advice, yet I admit it is totally unhelpful.) The names and titles that appear below the search box are apparently chosen based on a combination of (a) popularity, in terms of being searched for and viewed on IMDb, and (b) similarity to what is typed in the search box. In this case, the greater fame of the names and titles that appear below the search box apparently outweigh the fact that your name is being typed in exactly.

Thanks so much for the reply.  I was afraid of this.  However, what's really strange is that when I had a ghost account under the name Jd Marlow (which is now gone) it was the FIRST thing to come up when typing in my name.  This leads me to believe there is something wrong with my actual account.  There must be a way to fix this.  Why was my ghost account with no credits on it and nobody looked at the first hit and my actual account isn't??
