Hi,

Until recently, akas.imdb.com was giving the original title, but this is no longer the case under some conditions. For instance, this problem is reproducible when I'm not logged in and Accept-Language is not provided. As an example, for http://akas.imdb.com/title/tt5294550/ I get the French title "Tout l'argent du monde" instead of the original title "All the Money in the World".

Moreover, when set, it seems that Accept-Language has an effect, while it shouldn't. Using it for a title is a misuse, at least on akas.

Regards,
Vincent.

Yes, sorry, there's no longer anything different about akas.imdb.com and it will shortly be redirected to www.imdb.com

Title localization has several issues and it has been tricky to provide the best experience due to the way we store some of the information about original titles and local titles.

Until we have a full solution, our recommendation is to go to your site settings at https://www.imdb.com/preferences/general and on the menu "Title display country" please choose "Original" which is the first item on the menu.  This will block the localization of titles which should improve things, even though there will still be some issues.

The good news is that thanks to https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/upcoming-changes-to-several-imdb-features-du6man1opd5q0 we will be in a better position in 2018 to do this properly at last.

Both titles are important, so just put them both. Make them searchable under either title.

Yes, both titles would even be better. I can see that this is already the case with the "reference" view (well, partially for TV episodes, as the TV series is shown only under the local title).
