Title correction for Mystery Science Theater 3000 - Update #171112-205844-427000

This is in reference to my submitted update #171112-205844-427000.

I put in an earlier conversation that was marked "not a problem", despite only one of the two issues I raised being addressed.  Subsequent posts on that conversation were ignored, so I submitted a new update and am now creating this new conversation.

The image below, taken directly from the first episode of the series, clearly shows that the title as shown on screen is "Mystery Science Theater 3000".

Per IMDb policy, the listing for the new incarnation of the show should be "Mystery Science Theater 3000" (2017) and not "Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Return" (2017).

I will happily provide any additional information or screenshots you may require.

Hi there,

I have added this as the original title for the series. However, it has been decided to retain the display title as Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Return' as this is how it is more commonly known and referred to as. This will also help us to distinguish the title from the other series listed as 'Mystery Science Theater 3000'.

I would dispute that assertion.  The show's website, DVD/Blu-ray set, etc. all refer to it by its proper title.  But, I suppose you'll just have to change it later, when "The Return" is inevitably dropped in future seasons.
