Title Correction possibly rejected

I have (possibly twice) tried to change the title of this to 'New Fist of Fury' (no plural in 'Fists'), but I can only assume it was rejected.

Incidentally, the 'Track Contribution' feature would have been helpful to understand why.

Moreover, your question rings a bell to me. I cannot search GS easily right now (smartphone in the subway) but I think I remember the question was raised some months back (or a similar case of HK film), where actually there was no evidence of the "correct" English title, with or without a final 's'. And I think the outcome was a status quo.

Title corrections don't appear in the contribution history yet, I believe.

Hi Vincent,

I believe all official material points to 'Fist', so I'd say there's no doubt, nor reason to consider the plural (it is possible to use one fist to attack).

This is my own 2 cents: from my experience (I lived several years in HK in the 1980's) it is sometimes difficult to assess what are the official materials in English, even with the Shaw Brothers productions. Since according to countries and rereleases, some alterations and typo may have been introduced.
I would say the most reliable source would be to check in the South China Morning Posts archives at the time of the release. This would ascertain the reference title as per IMDb policy.

Evidence includes original posters (Chinese and English) and the title card of versions from 1976 (original Mandarin) and 1980 (Cantonese re-edit), as well as trailers.

You can find them using Google Images and YouTube. I can provide links later, if still needed.

Thanks for reaching out about this! It looks like you attempted to change the original title to "New Fist of Fury", which was why you didn't see the change reflected. I've corrected the English title and the change should be live shortly.
